PU-AMI is a French non-governmental, not-for-profit organization working in the field of international solidarity.

Since 2002, PU-AMI has implemented humanitarian projects in the occupied Palestinian territory in response to the Second Intifada (2002-2002). To date, PU-AMI has successfully provided emergency humanitarian aid through income generating activities (i.e. distribution of professional tools kits), food assistance (i.e. emergency jobs creation, distribution of livestock kits or support to livestock farming and to familial farming, food distribution) and Water and Sanitation projects (Water network construction and chlorination awareness campaigns).

PU-AMI started working in Gaza just after the “Cast Lead” military operation in February 2009. After the war, PU-AMI distributed NFIs and hygiene kits. Thanks to ECHO funds, the agency assisted 85 small-scale farmers in the ARA in 2009-2010 by providing them agricultural inputs and technical trainings. In 2010, PU-AMI continued its intervention with farmers in Al Mawasi village-Khan Younis. In 2011, PU-AMI extended its intervention with farmers to cover Abassan Al Kabira, Khuzaa and Al Fukhari in the Eastern side of Khan Younis, and in Al Shouka-Rafah. The intervention, in the beginning of 2011, was concentrated in the Access Restricted Area (ARA), which ranged up to 1 500 meters from the fence.

The agricultural intervention is combined with Cash for work (CfW) activities, where temporary job opportunities are offered men who have been unemployed for long periods and / or affected by the economic hardship.

Vulnerable women notably female-headed households are offered temporary job opportunities.

As part of a project funded by the European Commission – Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection (ECHO), PU-AMI wishes to recruit an external consultant to undertake a study research on the following topic: Gaza: Impact of the blockade and wars on the agricultural sector in the Access Restricted Area (ARA).
