Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Training consultancy:
“Empowering Women through Technology Entrepreneurship” TeamStart - Gaza Strip
Mercy Corps seeks a Service Provider to deliver an innovative program in Technology Entrepreneurship for women in the Gaza Strip.

In Gaza, Mercy Corps implements the Palestinian Community Assistance Program (PCAP), a multi-sectoral, four year program funded by USAID. Under the economic development pillar of PCAP, Mercy Corps works to prepare youth or underemployed adults to become productive members of the workforce through skills training and professional development.
Mercy Corps recognizes that specific skills are needed to translate a talent into an income, and that employment increasingly means self-employment, freelance or project-based employment. In 2008, Mercy Corps began work with the Palestine Information and Communication Technology Incubator (PICTI), and the United Kingdom’s University of Warwick Science Park (UWSP), to develop TeamStart: “An entrepreneurial path from idea to marketplace”. TeamStart includes technical consultation, confidence building, business development and practical assistance in a networked environment. TeamStart was developed in Palestine for Palestinians with ideas, ambitions and talent.
Mercy Corps is looking for a Service Provider to implement “Empowering Women through Technology Entrepreneurship TeamStart”, an entrepreneurial training and skills building program to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship amongst Gaza women with advanced skills in different aspects of technology fields, and ideas to translate those skills into income through business.
Empowering Women through Technology Entrepreneurship TeamStart will offer opportunities to women of diverse professional backgrounds, from science and engineering to business specializations such as marketing and finance.

Objectives:
Mercy Corps “Empowering Women through Technology Entrepreneurship” TeamStart aims to:
1-Provide 25 talented, ambitious Gazan women with an opportunity to systematically evaluate and strengthen their business ideas in the technology fields and improve their economic situation through entrepreneurship.
2-Encourage women to assume lead roles and increase the number of women in leadership roles in technology entrepreneurship.
3-Increase networking opportunities locally for women in ICT sector.

Target Group:
Participants will be selected from networks of Gazans women who already possess the required technical knowledge and have ideas in Science, Technology and Engineering, and want to start their own business but do not have the basic management and entrepreneurial skills. Each candidate for TeamStart will be required to present their business idea to a selection panel, as part of a competitive selection process.
The provider should be prepared to work with a highly skilled and motivated group, in the knowledge that the success of TeamStart will be judged by the success of its participants in establishing businesses.
