Save the Children is seeking a qualified candidate to fulfill the following vacancy in AMIDEAST - Ramallah Office:

School Support Program Extracurricular Activities Manager - Position Ref.#: (SSPM/WB/2015)

The Program Manager provides technical and managerial support for the successful implementation of the USAID-funded School Support Program’s extracurricular activities component ensuring successful, quality and timely accomplishment of program activities in compliance with SCI and USAID policies and regulations

Main Responsibilities:

Area 1: Project representation; the project manager will represent the project in front of different stakeholders; including:
-Ensure efficient representation and coordination with the Ministry of Education in coordination with AMIDEAST Chief of Party (CoP).
-Ensure adequate representation and coordination with targeted communities and stakeholders according to agreed upon visibility and branding plans with AMIDEAST.
-Contribute to the presentation of the project activities and events to the donor in close coordination with the CoP.
 
Area 2: Ensure all Program Management areas are conducted efficiently to meet the project objectives, including:
-Member of the project management team under the leadership of assigned CoP: provide input and support to the overall project planning; implement and coordinate project activities; develope relations with partners; developstrategies; facilitate donor communication; and foster teamwork.
-Lead the team (direct reports) working closely with the AMIDEAST Team and the CoP to develop needed detailed implementation plans, procurement plans, M&E, assessments, baselines/surveys, communities and school selection and needed project reports. Provide needed technical and programmatic feedback as needed/requested by the CoP.
-Provide day to day support and direction to direct reports and ensure progress, quality and synergy in the overall program operations and team.
-Provide monitoring and filed visits to project site and activities and ensure compliance with child safeguarding policy, beneficiary satisfaction and support in coordinating complex events.
-Provide regular updates to supervisor and SCI education department about the program including data, lessons learned, and best practices, and attend regular meetings with direct supervisor as per their request and coordinate potential SCI field visits to project activities—In close consultation with CoP.
-Work closely with procurement, compliance and finance unit for all related project needs and ensure compliance with SCI standard policies and procedures.
-Participate in SCI annual planning and strategic planning workshop, education working group and essential trainings identified by SCI. (SCI will coordinate ahead with CoP to ensure no negative impact on program plans.)

Area 3: Ensure proper human resource management is provided to the project team, including:
-Provide leadership and management to sub-ordinates; ensure they have clear objectives and receive meaningful feedback on their performance regularly.
-Ensure quality performance and staff well-being. Conduct regular performance review, train and coach staff as needed, and ensure coherent and integration with SSP team.
-Comply with all relevant SCI policies and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies
-Ensure project team attend core trainings of SCI.
-Ensure the safety and security of the project team adhering to all safety and security precautions and incident reporting back to SCI in line with direction from the Safety and Security Manager and the Director of Program Operations.


Applications will be considered based on the following essential criteria:
-Bachelor or Masters in education, international development accompanied with relevant experience in programming and managing multi-million, multiyear education programs.
-If with relevant MSc, needed experience is 7 years of related experience in development with at least 3 years in a management role. If with BSc then at least 10 years of relevant experience is required. Previous experience working on USAID funded grants required.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
-Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.
-Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
-A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment.
-Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic required.
