Job Title: Security and Safety Officer
Location: Ramallah Office
Duration: Regular Term

The Save the Children Alliance is a leading international relief and development consortium. Save the Children US, representing the consortium, is recruiting for the position of Security and Safety Officer. The position is based in Ramallah, with frequent visits to West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem offices.
The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for the planning and operational aspects of the securit and safety of Save the Children Alliance (Save the Children UK, Save the Children Sweden and Save the Children US) West Bank and Gaza staff, equipment and materials. S/he supports line management to ensure safety and security systems and processes are relevant, effective and adopted by all staff. S/he reports to the Save the Children US Country Director and maintains communication with the Save the Children US regional and Home Office Security staff, and with the regional and Home Office staff of Alliance partners as requested. The Security Officer represents the Save the Children Alliance at security coordination meetings, and is the key contact with local authorities, UN and NGO agencies on safety and security matters.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Relations/Administration or related field, or equivalent in relevant experience
• 3 years experience in security management for a humanitarian organization
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills including good listening skills
• Good knowledge of communications equipment and operations
• Ability to develop and manage a computer database and tracking systems
• Ability to speak, read and write in Hebrew; strongly preferred
• Ability to liaise with various authorities, organizations, and security partners
• Strong verbal and written communications skills in English and Arabic.
• Ability to work courteously and confidentially with people in person and on the phone
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization independently, and interact effectively
with senior and middle level management
• Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex issues
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Understanding and familiarity with governmental protocols in regard to safety and security
and movement of people and goods
• Specialized training in security and safety, and good training skills
• Training in internationally recognized safety and security protocols
• Ability to travel to West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem and outside the country
• Training in first aid
• Valid drivers license
