Security Assistant

For a duration of 3 months with possibility of extension

 GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

Under the direct supervision of the Security Officer, with the ad-hoc support of the Security Manager, the security assistant will be responsible for:  

• Coordinating with the Program staff to clarify any blurry point related to the movement plan.
• Placing notification requests for all Action Against Hunger movements on the ECP platform - using the movement plan filled out by the Program teams - and drawing on the ECP platform the routes to be taken by the drivers. Careful attention to details is required.
• Drawing all these routes on Google Map and exporting a KML file to be shared in a dedicated WhatsApp group with Action Against Hunger staff and drivers.
• Posting a breakdown of the following day’s movement in that dedicated WhatsApp group.
• Regularly meeting with the drivers to discuss the most appropriate and practicable routes.
• Briefing the drivers on the road to take in the morning before they depart, according to the roads that were drawn on the ECP platform.
• Reporting any issue related to the notification of movement to the Security Manager.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Objective 1: Notification of movement

• Coordinating with the Program staff to clarify any blurry point related to the movement plan
• Placing notification requests for all Action Against Hunger movements on the ECP platform - using the movement plan filled out by the Program teams - and drawing on the ECP platform the routes to be taken by the drivers. Careful attention to details is required.
• Drawing all these routes on Google Map as well and exporting a KML file to be shared in a dedicated WhatsApp group with Action Against Hunger staff and drivers.
• Posting a breakdown of the following day’s movement in that dedicated WhatsApp group.

Objective 2: Coordination with and briefing of the drivers

• Regularly meeting with the drivers to discuss the most appropriate and practicable routes.
• Briefing the drivers on the road to take in the morning before they depart, according to the roads that were drawn on the ECP platform.

PROFILE REQUIRMENT

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as security studies or mapping and graphics studies.
• Good command of the ECP platform used for the notification of humanitarian movements.
• Proficiency in Excel software
• Proficiency in the use of mapping tools (good command of QGIS is an asset), with the ability to extract KML files of elements of interest.
• Experience in working with the ECP platform is required (2 months)
• Experience in working in the fleet department of a company or NGO (6 months)
• Previous experience with Action Against Hunger is an added value.
• Ability to communicate in written and spoken English
• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email/internet software.
• Candidates from Deir Al Balah are preferred.
