UNDP/PAPP places empowerment, resilience and sustainability at the center of its operation and focuses on three priority areas: the Gaza Strip, East Jerusalem and Area C of the West Bank, where the needs are the greatest.
UNDP/PAPP is active in four the manticores: democratic governance and the rule of law; economic empowerment and private sector development; environment and management of natural resources; and public and social infrastructure.
The Security Guard provides reliable and safe security services to the UNDP/PAPP Security Unit ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The security guard also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
Scope of Work
The Security Guard will undertake the following functions:
1.Ensure all UNDP/PAPP security arrangements are in place:
- Receive and register incoming and outcoming mail (in coordination with assigned Registry focal point)
- Search visitors’ persona bags and physicals arch if needed. Deny access to anyone carrying a weapon.
- Regular patrolling and inspection of the interior and exterior of the building.
- Ensure proper registry of all activities at the daily handover logbook.
- Ensure proper registry of UN car movements after working hours and during weekends.
- Maintain all security equipment and ensure good working condition for all security equipment.
- Ensure all security arrangements are in place in case of emergency:
- Ensure VHF radio base functional and implement a daily radio check with UNDSS radio room.
- Maintain direct contact with Security Analyst to inform about any related security incident or information.
- Implement proper vehicle search at the vehicle entrance using the under vehicle mirror.
- Conduct VBIED security inspection of vehicles entering the car park.
- 3. Provides assistance to all staff off all agencies and visitors to the UNDP building:
- Greet staff and visitors and provide answers to questions in a respectful manner.
- Direct Visitors to the appropriate staff location.
- Implement UNDP/PAPP proper access procedures, pass and ID system.
- All visitors must enter through a metal detector and all possessions are screened through an x-ray machine (in the absence of this equipment, a scan by utilizing a hand-held wand and visual inspection of possessions will take place).
- Assist General Services Associate in all related security requirements when requested:
- Be prepared to work in shifts and double shifts if required.
- Assist the General Services Associate in administrative related tasks if requested.
- Replace the General Services Associate in his absence if required.
- Operates the centralized telephone system and maintain official lists:
- Assist staff with making inter office, overseas and domestic long-distance calls.
- Answer and forward incoming calls to final destinations.
- To undertake any other duties as required.
Institutional Arrangement
Under the guidance of Operations and Services Manager and direct supervision of the General Services Associate, the security guard will undertake the required functions.

Required Skills and Experience
Min. Education
requirements
Secondary Education
Min. years of relevant work experience Required skills
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in security related positions.
Required Skills
Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications.
Ability to manage the security system including CCTV, Access control and fire-alarm system.
Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section
Driving license is an advantage.
Proven work experience as a Security Guard with an international organization or Embassy is an asset.
Previous experience with Technical protection equipment, Radio and other Telecommunication Equipment is an asset.
Required Language(s)
Fluency in Arabic and working knowledge in the English Language.
Working knowledge in Hebrew Language would be an asset.
Professional Certificates
Relevant training and professional accreditation in security field is an asset.
