Background:
The Department of Safety and Security is responsible for providing leadership, operational support and oversight of the security management system to enable the safest and most efficient conduct of the programmes and activities of the United Nations
Description of Responsibilities:
Functions / Key Results Expected
Summary of key functions:
-Be part of the GSCO team in providing Safety and Security Assistance to all UN personnel located in Gaza.
-Providing mission tracking, coordinating security clearances, monitoring open sources and other sources for security related information
-Disseminating security advisories around the clock as and when required as per the advice of FSCOs/LSAs and SSOA (hereinafter referred as supervisors) in Gaza
-Updating the Security Database with accurate figures, statistics and generate reports upon request of supervisors.
-Maintaining the security and functionality of the Radio Room, proper handling of equipment and to remain on standby in crisis situations.

-Staff member would be assisting the GSCO to ensure that the facility is manned 24/7.

=To ensure the safety and security of UN personnel in the area of operation through continuous contact & support to the supervisors in confirmation of security related incidents.

-Ensuring that all UN personnel are updated with security related incidents and other advisories.

-Ensuring that information required by supervisors are available and accurate. Provide accurate information for SMT presentations and other returns

-To ensure that the Radio Room is functional on 24/7 basis with the equipment functional at all times.

Based on the key functions and results expected, the impact is expected to have better performance, better client assistance in providing safety and security related needs, more management of time being a crucial factor in Safety and Security, maintaining databases of the UNDSS System in I/WB/G, enhancing the capabilities and performance of the GSCO being a part of an operational team.

Qualifications :
Education:
Completion of Secondary school – BA degree or certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems is an asset
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years
Language Requirements:
Fluency (both oral and written) in English and Arabic essential. Knowledge in Hebrew is considered an asset.
