The Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre is a charitable, non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Jerusalem working on the empowerment of children with disabilities and their families in their communities through physical rehabilitation and inclusive education. JPBC is recruiting for the position of:

Senior Accountant

Role purpose:  Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation related to all the office accounting and financial reporting. The candidate will be a contributor to the office accounting procedures and strategies.

Reports to: Finance Director

Main Job Responsibilities:

-    Oversee the accounting functions,
-    Assist the finance Director with internal control, risk management, budgeting, asset management, cash flow management, payroll processing, management reporting, financial variance and accounts analysis, etc., in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the organization's financial policies and procedures, donor regulations, and all other applicable laws, rules and guidelines.
-    In cooperation with the accountant maintain updated registers for assets, severance records, staff salary advances, work & travel advances, accruals, prepayments, etc.
-    Support the finance director with Tracking, managing, and reporting on all financial resources and expenditures as required by the organizational policy and donor policies or other agreements.
-    Support with drafting the budgets and the donor financial reports including the preparation of the strategic and annual financial planning in accordance with the organizational guidelines.
-    Daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliation; and regular follow-up with banks.
-    Support the establishment and maintenance of policies and procedures related to the organization's accounting and compliance practices.
-    Assist in maintaining the chart of accounts.
-    Under the supervision of the Finance Director Record the accounting journal entries of the organization, in compliance with GAAP and IFRS.
-    In cooperation with the accountant, follow up and collection of income and other contribution or donations, and issuing the appropriate receipts vouchers.
-    In cooperation with the accountant, deposit all income received on daily basis, and first thing in the morning on Monday morning.
-    Assist in processing the payroll transactions and transfers to local staff and to the local authorities.
-    Follow up with the service buyers on the payment settlements, and prepare the monthly payment requests on a timely manner.
-    In cooperation with the accountant, monitor and review the bank accounts balances and inform the finance director of any irregular charges.
-    Under the supervision of the finance director prepare monthly cash flow (needs) in cooperation with the heads of departments and make sure cash at banks is available to ensure sufficiency of funds to cover the obligations.
-    Under the supervision of the Finance Director do the costing and inventory controls of the workshop products.
-    Review and make the required adjustments (if applicable) to the financial statement accounts on monthly basis
-    Assist, facilitate and support the annual audits, and audits required by donor agencies.
-    Follow up on inventory control, tagging and assets management.
-    Cover for the Finance Director when he is out of office.
-    Assist with the programs and organizational audits.
-    Undertake other duties and tasks as may lie within the scope of this post to ensure the effective delivery of the job, as instructed by line manager.


Requirements and qualifications:

-    A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting, from a recognized institution
-    3 to 5 years of experience in a relevant field, preferably with an NGO
-    Excellent knowledge of English, Arabic and Hebrew languages
-    Advanced knowledge in MS Office applications, especially MS Excel
-    A valid driving license and the ability to travel within the country
-    Good knowledge with the Israeli labor, tax, banking and financial laws
-    A strong and motivated personality with a keen eye for details
-    Well organized
-    Good communication and team work skills
-    Ability to work under stress/pressure
-    Knowledge with financial Software Systems, audit principles and requirements
