Senior Accountant

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for preparing and maintaining proper financial records on Anera projects and activities, as well as reconciling accounts and reporting as required.  Provides support as needed to the Manager of Finance and the Director of Finance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Organizes the financial records to ensure completeness and compliance with proper accounting standards, internal controls, and donor requirements.
  • Maintains accounting records using the existing software and any software that Anera may implement.
  • Handles petty cash, including cash payments and receipts, regular replenishment, and monthly reconciliation.
  • Follows up with the program managers on project implementation and timeliness.
  • Reviews sub-grantee financial records to ensure compliance with the signed agreements.
  • Prepares various files and documentation for external auditors.
  • Performs any other related responsibilities and/or special assignments as requested by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Expected Qualifications:

Candidates for this position are expected to meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Any other professional degree is a plus. 
  • 4-5 years of relevant work experience in accounting, preferably in an international NGO.
  • Fluency in English, Arabic, and Hebrew is required.
  • Experience with USAID-funded projects and knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
  • Proven computer skills, especially in spreadsheets and accounting programs.
