A NON-PROFIT FOUNDATION FOR HUMANITARIAN AND DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE
Job Title: Senior Manager, Resource Development, Communication, and Media
Location: Jerusalem / Ramallah
Closing Date: October 30, 2010
The Welfare Association (WA), a leading agency supporting Palestinian development and relief efforts, is seeking a dynamic leader and team builder with excellent conceptual, analytical and organizational skills for the position of Senior Manager, Resource Development, Communication, and Media. The Senior Manager reports to the Resource Development, Communication, and Media Director, and serves on the WA senior management team.
Responsibilities & Duties:
In accordance with established WA policy & regulations:
Resource Development:
Work with current resource development staff to further develop and diversify fundraising base. This includes:
-researching national, regional, and international funding institutions.
-institutionalizing efficient, intra-departmental processes for responding to the needs of national,
regional, and international institutional as well as individual donors.
-ensure that all information needed to report back to donors on current fundraising portfolio is
provided to RDCM on time, and manage the timely production of these reports to donors as well
as any appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
-Work with current RDCM staff to develop responsive appeals and fundraising events targeted to
individual donors as well as volunteer committees in various countries.
Communications and Media:
1-Identify project-level successes and lessons learned that can be adapted for communications to
various WA audiences, including through narratives and news items posted to the WA website and/or in the WA newsletter as well as through public events and/or media appearances.
2-In close coordination with the Amman-based Media Manager, ensure the timeliness and quality
of communications products (e.g. brochures, press releases, presentations, success stories, funding campaign promotional materials for different audiences, and annual reports) as well as occasional technical materials in Arabic and English for the Association’s regular publications and website.
Experience and Academic Qualifications :
1-Higher education (minimum of a Masters degree) in relevant field, or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.
2-Extensive (minimum of 8 years) experience in development, resource development and fundraising, and management with at least 5 years of experience with dealing with international donor agencies.
3-Demonstrated ability to work with coalitions, as well as outstanding diplomatic, communications
(presentation and reporting skills), conflict resolution, and interpersonal (especially team building) skills.
4-Excellent understanding and knowledge of humanitarian and development assistance as well as of the Palestinian context.
5-Excellent computer skills (MS-Office, MS-Project, and Internet Applications).
6-Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English and Arabic.
7-Ability and willingness to travel within WA’s scope of operations and abroad.
