Job Summary:

As a lead for the safeguarding and accountability in the CP, you will facilitate the achievement of CP safeguarding and accountability objectives through coordinating and reporting on all related activities and providing technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing partners advancing Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your coordination and relationship management skills will ensure that safeguarding and accountability in the CP for which you are responsible applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.

Job Requirements

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and lead the implementation of CP safeguarding and accountability priorities in line with CRS policies, principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Train project frontline staff on safeguarding, including identifying, receiving, and escalating reports, suspicions, and concerns;
  • Facilitate / coordinate safeguarding risk assessments, or Do No Harm assessments, for projects in design phase
  • Act as a reporting channel to receive safeguarding reports and allegations from colleagues; coordinate CP sensitive case management, including ensuring reporting into EthicsPoint;
  • Triage initial safeguarding or protection related concerns or queries from colleagues; ensure survivors receive immediate support and/or appropriate referrals following disclosure;
  • Coordinate and oversee working relationships with local project stakeholders; facilitate partner safeguarding assessments and ensure support is provided in a timely manner to promote partner safeguarding and impact.
  • Supervise and perform monitoring visits to ensure timely implementation and adherence to established process standards and procedures. Ensure proper tracking and follow-up with and assistance to partners.
  • Support and coordinate capacity building and technical support activities to ensure assigned project activities are implemented per project guidelines and standards.
  • Coordinate provision of any safeguarding and accountability support to staff and partners.
  • Ensure documentation for safeguarding and accountability is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with preparation of reports and documentation as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in International Relations or related field would be a plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in project support, ideally in the field of safeguarding and for an NGO.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding industry standards and principles of partnership.
  • Additional experience may substitute for some education.

Required Languages – English and Arabic required, both written and verbal

Travel – travel across the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza (when feasible)

  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners

  • Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with partners, participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Staff supervision experience a plus.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
