Site Engineer

Oxfam GB in the occupied Palestinian territories & Israel is working towards a just
& peaceful resolution to the devastating conflict that continues to deprive people
of their basic rights.
To improve lives of children and families living on Gaza, Oxfam GB programme has secured fund to carry restoring safe water, sanitation and kindergarten buildings for children in Gaza through integrated public health components.

We welcome applications for one short-term consultancy position from
people who have the required experience and skills.

The site engineer will be work closely with Gaza Public Health team to implement, control and monitor the contractor that assigned to execute BoQs on 6 kindergartens
that related to the project.
Start date: November 08th 2009 End Date: January 31st. 2010
Working Days: Saturday – Thursday Working Hours 8:00 am to 16:30 pm

Main Key responsibilities:
-To revise the BoQ and the technical specifications for the rehabilitation of the six selected kindergartens ensuring they follow the Palestinian regulations.
-Supervise and monitor at field level all the rehabilitation works in the six kindergartens, ensuring they follow the instructions and specifications agreed.
-Report weekly, by writing, the achievements, concerns, incidents and alternative solutions concerning the implementation.

Main Skills And Competences
-Civil Engineer degree, or similar studies
-Previous proven experience (minimum 3 years) of working in schools/ kindergartens rehabilitation.
-Good analysis capacity
-Good technical documents development capacity
-Communications skills
- Working effectively.
-Good knowledge in water and sanitation
-Inputs from PC
-Good organization, priorities identification and planning skills.
-Excellent spoken and written Arabic and good level of written and spoken English
