Social worker
Jemima, Al-Siderstreet 117, Beit Jala is a Christian institution for mentally and physically handicapped people, supported by the foundation “Stichting Jemima” in the Netherlands. The foundation started in 1982. At the moment 26 children are admitted to the boarding section and 44 children and young adults from the Bethlehem area are attending the day-care center. In addition Jemima is supporting families in the area within a home based intervention program (HBI).
We are looking for the following Vacancies:
1-Care worker (M) in growing up Section
2-Care worker (F) in HBI Project
Job Essence:
-To contribute to a balanced and relaxed living environment in which safety and structure are key words.
-To be the mentor and personal coach of one or two residents. In this capacity you are responsible for the development and execution of care and activity plans.
-To report and update, in English and on a regular basis, care and activity plans.
-To organize recreational and developmental activities
Major Job requirements, skills and responsibilities
-You have a co-operative and flexible (working) attitude
-You have Education which can work in this field, like special education, social worker, psychology, etc, preferably BA.
-Having at least three years experience in working with mentally restricted people is a distinct advantage.
-Preferably from Bethlehem Area.
-endorse the Christian identity of the organization;
-To be able to act in a consistent and clear manner
-To be able to cope with stress and deal with conflicts within the group.
-You have a relaxing attitude, radiate natural authority and are a clear communicator.
-You are a team player who works together closely with your colleagues and with client's parents.
-You have sufficient knowledge of the English language, both in speaking and in reading/writing.
-You are able to report in a concise and transparent manner.
Personal requirements
The candidate should be enthusiastic, open and genuine. He or she has the ability to find a balanced mix between idealism and realism. The person shows devotion to the work, is able to cooperate, to lead and being lead. Knowledge of social circumstances and social intelligence are advantages.
