Emergency Relief Project Gaza
SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is a dynamic social development organization active in over 132 countries worldwide, working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. It operates through a federation network of National Associations (NAs) across the globe, working in the areas of child development and emergency response.
For its program in Gaza, SOS Children’s Villages is currently recruiting new staff for its interim care centre in Gaza City. The interim care centre will serve as a temporary shelter for children who have either lost parental care or are at risk of losing this care. From the safe location in the centre, the children will be either referred back to their (extended) families or their communities, or they will be referred to long-term care.
SOS Children’s Villages Palestine seeks to recruit for its Emergency Relief Project:
Position: Social worker (Case manager)
Location: Gaza City
Line manager: Emergency Relief Project Manager
Position summary:
The goal of this position is ensuring quality care for children within the centre, but also care for their families during the stay of the children. The role of the social worker is essential in securing support for children, their biological (extended) families and their SOS care givers. There will be children who will be supported from their family/caretaker environment. These children and their caretakers will also fall under the responsibility of the case workers. The social worker reports directly to the project manager and he/ she is the engine of the registration and the exits of all children in the shelter.
Tasks and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to:
-Identification and registration procedure
-Conducting home and field visits
-Collection of case management data and follow up of the child
-Follow up with the family of the child and all concerned organisations
-Service mapping for relevant child protection services
-Identifying needs of the children and preparing individual case plans that involve the child
-Attending meetings, Preparing weekly and monthly reports
-Working in direct cooperation with the psychotherapist and educators
-Developing a rehabilitation project for biological families with possibilities for reintegration
Qualifications and Experience:
-BA in Psychology or relevant social science
-Experience in community psycho-education and working with children
-Minimum 3 years of experience in social assessments
-Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in both English & Arabic
-Ability to work under pressure and communicate effectively with a range of people
-Ability to use Microsoft Office
