Job Title: Sr. Logistics Assistant / Database Specialist Contract: Service Contract Location: oPT Country Office, Jerusalem
Accountabilities: Within delegated authority, the Senior Logistics Assistant / Database Specialist
will be responsible for the following duties.
-Building and developing an NFI cargo tracking and invoicing Database as per User specifications
-Preparing User manuals for the database
-Ensuring the functionality of the database, including data security and interface design.
-Performing overall data maintenance, including data cleaning and data migration.
-Ensuring data consistency among various replicas/applications installed on user machines.
-Periodically reviewing information in the database and highlighting anomalies or seemingly inconsistent information with concerned focal points.
-Assisting and responding to queries from database users, related to entry and usage of the database.
-Training database users on accurate data entry and querying the database.
-Providing information to management from existing queries and reports, or run new queries when needed.
-Briefing new users on the use of database and performing installation on their computer.
-Performing data entry and document validation when required
-Managing the data entry staff to ensure timely and accurate entry of data, timely submission of reports, and ensuring that the database accurately reflects actual cargo movements, cargo requests, costs and invoicing status.
-Monitoring the performance of data entry staff and maintaining sufficient staffing levels to operate efficiently.
-Ensuring all Cargo Tracking hardcopy files are properly maintained and archived as required.
-Analyzing all the data that is produced from the CTS and identifying any means of improving the overall efficiency to produce data or automate any processes required to achieve this.
-Managing and ensuring that software maintenance routines are strictly adhered to and that all data is backed up.
-Performing any other duties specified by the Head of Logistics, as and when required.
QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION:
Education:
Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in a field related to WFP logistics/transport activities.
Experience:
At least five years of practical commercial/professional experience in one or more of the programming in Oracle.
Knowledge and skills :
Experience in computer harware and software, including Oracle databases. Knowledge of WFP administrative regulations and rules, and WFP policies and procedures in the area of work.
Languages:
Fluency both in written and oral English and Arabic.
