What we are looking for:

An experienced Staff Care Adviser to play a pivotal role in providing psychological support for the Palestine Programme where there is an active conflict ongoing. The post holder will be required to contribute to the development and implementation of psychosocial initiatives aimed at addressing mental health and psychosocial needs of individuals affected by the conflict; work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to design, deliver and evaluate psychological interventions tailored to the unique challenges of conflict-affected populations.

What you will do:

  • Develop policies, guidelines, minimum standard, tools and trainings linked to health and wellbeing (mental health, stress and trauma) in NRC Palestine.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance on mental health and wellbeing to different offices in Palestine.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining mental health and psychological external providers' network.
  • Provide guidance, support and advice related to staff care to the Critical Management team on staff care during crisis and critical incidents.
  • Act as the focal point linked to staff care initiatives in NRC Palestine Programme in coordination with CO management, MENA RO HR and Global Staff Care Adviser 
  • Conduct one on one sessions and group sessions with staff to identify the psychosocial needs of staff. 
  • Utilize culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches to gather information and formulate individualized support plans.
  • Collaborate with different teams to design initiatives that address the psychological impact of conflict, incorporating principles of trauma recovery, resilience-building, and psychosocial support
  • Develop psychoeducational materials, training modules, and intervention protocols tailored to the needs of staff in conflict settings 
  • Provide psychological support to staff and link/refer to services providers or other initiatives based on needs.
  • Design training and facilitate sessions and workshops for teams deployed into Gaza on topics related on PFA, trauma-informed care and management, and peer-to-peer support.
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness and impact of psychological interventions.

Job Requirements

What you will bring:

  • Advanced degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or related field.
  • Documented experience in trauma-response, trauma within emergencies knowledge and response
  •  Minimum 5 years providing psychological services in context of conflict, war, displacement, or humanitarian crisis.
  • Strong understanding of cultural, social, political dynamics in Gaza conflict and wider MENA region, and ability to work sensitively and ethically within diverse cultural contexts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish trust, and facilitate group processes in challenging environments.
  • Demonstrated capacity for innovation, adaptability, and resilience in navigating complex and volatile environments.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles, human rights, and the promotion of mental health and psychosocial well-being in conflict-affected populations.
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal. Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.

What we offer:

  • Duty station: Jerusalem
  • Contract: 12 months (Fixed-term contract renewal based on performance, funds availability and need for the position)
