The Norwegian Refugee Council is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced persons. We advocate for their rights and assist with shelter, education, food distribution, and counselling on repatriation
NRC seeks:
Teacher Support Officer (1 national staff position)
Gaza City
NRC works internationally in the field of education and in the Gaza Strip in a project to support UNRWA. NRC works with UNRWA on teacher capacity building and training, parental skills for education and communication between schools and parents. This project is now entering its second year and NRC is seeking to expand its education team. As this project is likely to focus on East Gaza City and the Middle Area we are particularly interested in applications from residents of these areas.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
-Minimum of three years teacher education experience (grades 1-3 in particular), including familiarity with different pedagogical approaches and experiential teaching and learning.
-Experience of working with or within the UNRWA system
-Facilitation skills
-Expereince of coaching and support to teachers
-Experience of needs assessment, mentoring and support
-Experience of and commitment to participatory approaches to aid and development
-Commitment to the ideals of NRC including Education for All child protection, inclusion and gender equality
-Ability to plan, organise and manage own time
-Communication skills in Arabic and English
-Computer literacy
-Flexibility and creativity
-Strong team working skills
Desirable
-Experience in non-formal education
-Experience of working with action research
-Experience of youth work and/or school management
-Experience of community mobilisation and working through volunteers
-Experience with monitoring and evaluation including data collection
