Teacher Training Coordinator

RTI International is requesting applications for technical and operational roles on USAID-funded West Bank Early Grade Reading Activity. This activity will work closely with and support the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) to enhance learning outcomes for Palestinian children at the primary level by improving Arabic reading instruction, and policies and practices at the government, community and school levels. Positions are based in Ramallah. Successful candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills including fluency in English and Arabic.
Teacher Training Coordinator
The Teacher Training Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all training and coaching activities focusing on improving in-service training and ongoing professional development in the area of early grade reading. He or She will be responsible for developing and initiating new methods for teaching literacy in the early grades, training teachers in the use of active-learning methods, and reinforcing teachers’ understanding and use of Arabic as the language of instruction.
Essential Duties:
- Develop training plans based on the recommendations from EGR specialists and MOEHE representatives
- Coordinate with the relevant MOEHE department to conduct EGR trainings
- Maintain training documentation based on USAID guidelines for reporting purposes
- Contribute to training reports, as needed
- Coordinate with EGR M&E dept. to monitor training activities
- Assist the EGR training specialists, as needed
- Plan the logistics of training sessions
- Contribute as a valuable member of the technical support team, developing innovative solutions to make training most effective.
- Liaise closely with subcontractors to ensure their staff are being trained properly in various activities to be undertaken as part of the EGR project.
- Monitor effectiveness of training and adapt to ministry’s needs as they relate to training topics.
- Stay well informed regarding the EGR polices and new developments.
- Perform additional tasks as required by project leadership.
Minimum Required Education & Experience
- A Master’s Degree in Education is preferred, preferably in curriculum development.
- Requires either an academic specialty or extensive field experience in early grade reading – a combination of both is preferred.
- At least 5 years’ experience in the technical direction of programs that work specifically to improve early grade reading.
- Prior experience with the development of early grade reading materials, training programs, classroom monitoring protocols, and tests and assessments (including EGRA or similar tests).
- Prior experience working in conflict or crisis affected environments.
- Familiarity with, and comprehension of, core concepts in early grade reading and conflict-sensitive education.
