TEIP | Coordinators

The Ministry of Education & Higher Education (MOEHE) has received a grant from the World Bank, International Development Association towards the cost of Teacher Education Improvement Project – TEIP, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for the following individual consultancies:

Position (1): Coordinators for Component 1 - Strengthening the School-Based Practicum for Student Teachers (two posts one based in Ramallah and one based in Gaza)

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1-Liaise with the task management team (TMT) and international consultants in the development and implementation of all aspects of the teaching practicum component of the TEIP.
2-Advise on the development of a Readiness to Teach Index of competencies expected on the part of beginning, grade 1-4, class teachers
3-Assist the MoEHE’s Assessment and Evaluation Centre in its evaluation of program implementation and impact and its use qualitative and quantitative measures, pre- and post-test data, and a ‘readiness to teach’index of competencies required on the part of beginning, Grade 1-4, class teachers.
4-In cooperation with the international consultants, produce a final report with a comprehensive set of recommendations and concrete implementation advice for taking Component 1 of the TEIP to scale.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
1-Minimum Master Degree in education.
2-Extensive knowledge of teacher education policy and practice related to PRESET, INSET and CPD in developed and developing countries, including conditions for certification.
3-At least 10 years experience in professional educator (e.g. as a teacher, teacher educator).
4-Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
5-Excellent management skills and ability to work within a team.
6-Excellent computer skills.
7-Previous consulting experience in a similar country context is an added bonus.

Position (2): Coordinators for Component 2 - Provision of upgrading courses to enable practicing, grade 1-4, class teachers meet the new academic and professional standards for teacher certification.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
8-Liaise with the Task Management Team (TMT) and international consultants in the development and implementation of all aspects of Component 2 of TEIP.
9-Advise on the development of a Readiness to Teach Index of competencies expected on the part of experienced, grade 1-4, class teachers
10-Assist the MoEHE’s Assessment and Evaluation Centre in its evaluation of program implementation and impact and in its use qualitative and quantitative measures, pre- and post-test data, and the ‘readiness to teach’ index of competencies in the process.

Place of Work:
Based at MOEHE headquarters in Ramallah and the project office in Gaza, with regular travel to all involved TEIs and schools.
