Supervisor:

The incumbent of this post reports to the Field, Information Management & Technology Infrastructure Officer.

Responsibilities

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures the incumbent:

  • -Manages and implements HQ/Field Infrastructure Networking and Telecommunications services in terms of deploying, monitoring, operating, and documenting adequate and reliable service, in line with established Agency Infrastructure Strategy, policies, and technical instructions
  • Is responsible for implementing and administering all operational tasks of the systems required for delivering the HQ/ FieId infrastructure networking services.
  • Provides first-level infrastructure technical support to the HQ/Field staff on issues related to LAN, WAN, HW, SW, PSTN, ISDN, MPLS, IP, and VPN; makes necessary technical changes as a result of support issues.
  • Keeps abreast of latest telecommunication technology developments and Cloud services impacting telecommunication; makes relevant recommendations.
  • Handling all service desk work in the Jerusalem Area.
  • Coordinating with service providers in case of fiber link damage and for any required replacements or maintenance, opening tickets under the company system, and following up on maintenance work.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting by assisting in the design of the network for schools, especially the LAN cabinet layout.
  • Follow up on Lab servers and thin-client device issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures. Please make sure to document network changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities to facilitate knowledge sharing, troubleshooting, and future planning.
  • Continuously optimize network performance by analyzing traffic patterns, identifying areas of congestion or inefficiency, and implementing solutions to improve bandwidth utilization, reduce latency, and enhance overall network performance.
  • Follow up on new construction network issues.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

Education

A university degree from an accredited educational institution in telecommunications, computer or electrical engineering, or another related discipline.

Desirable Professional qualifications:

  • CISCO Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification.
  • ITIL Certifications (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)

Job Specific Qualifications

Work Experience

  • At least five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in telecommunications network systems is required
  • Knowledge and experience in CISCO (Switches, Routers and Wireless) systems including centralized monitoring and management in large scale, high availability environments is required
  • Knowledge and experience of large-scale LAN/WAN switching and routing implementationand operation is required.
  • Experience in installing and maintaining secure network communications (VPN), firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems and secure remote authentication solutions is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with bandwidth management tools and techniques) is required.
