Background
War Child (WC) is an independent and impartial international non-governmental child right’s organization investing in a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. We strive to empower children and young people, while enabling adults to bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of conflict affected children and young people. WC has been working in the oPt since 2004, and has an office in Jerusalem and in Gaza.
Madaa Creative Center, a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization, was established in 2007 by the Palestinian residents of Wadi Hilweh neighborhood in Silwan. Madaa’s mission is to build a strong, knowledgeable and involved Arab Palestinian community in Silwan, and to provide educational and recreational activities and courses mainly for children, teenagers and women as well.
The action takes place in the framework of the East Jerusalem project “Contribute to ensure the protection of targeted children in specific areas of East Jerusalem in compliance with international child rights standards” Project implemented by War Child and Madaa. Part of the activities will be to film testimonies, interviews and violations as they happen, under 4 categories: 1. arrest and detention, 2. Attacks on schools, 3. Demolitions and displacement, 4. Violence against children.
Scope of work
-The editor will consult with Madaa and War Child before and during the editing process; Madaa and War Child will provide the editor with a briefing outlining the structure of each video before the editing process. Madaa will provide the editor with raw footage to be edited into 4 short movies of 4-5 minutes each.
-The editor can do the editing remotely but should be able to travel to Jerusalem in order to meet with Madaa and War Child. The editor will use high quality software (eg, Final Cut Pro 10 or newer) to edit the videos.
Madaa and War Child reserve the right to and have final say over the content of the videos; Madaa and War Child jointly own the copyright of the produced videos.
Expected Deliverables and timeline
The editor will complete 2 of the videos no later than February 11, and the remaining 2 no later than February 28.
Qualifications, Skills, and attributes
Companies and individuals are encouraged to apply.
-Advanced University Degree in Journalism/Media
-Good knowledge of Final Cut Pro
-Good graphic design skills
-Ability to speak English is a plus
Payment Schedule
Payment will be transferred by War Child no later than February 29, 2016.
