Twelve Short Technical ICT Courses
Background
Mercy Corps is a nonprofit international relief and development organization serving more than 19 million people in 46 countries. Mercy Corps has had a presence in the West Bank and Gaza since the 1980s, helping Palestinians meet their immediate needs for survival and find durable solutions to chronic problems. With offices in East Jerusalem, Ramallah and Gaza City, Mercy Corps implements programs throughout the Palestinian territories.
As part of its Palestinian Community Assistance Program (PCAP), which is fully funded by USAID, Mercy Corps offers a program in economic development and workforce preparation. Within its focus on the ICT sector, Mercy Corps is working to provide young Gazans with advanced technical skills which lead to income and employment by offering full-length ICT courses and short ICT courses.
Mercy Corps is looking for qualified service providers (firms and/or individuals), ICT training centers, individual trainers, etc. to design, develop and deliver eleven short technical ICT courses during August and September 2014. Topics for the short training courses are:
1-Developing and Monetizing Chrome Extensions Applications.
2-Introduction to ASP.NET MVC 5.
3-Building Responsive Websites Using Bootstrap 3.
4-Software Testing Essentials (2 groups).
5-Requirements Engineering (RE) (3 groups).
6-AngularJS JavaScript Framework.
7-Google Analytics.
8-Google AdWords.
9-SEO and Google webmaster tools.
Objectives:-
The main objective of this activity is to improve the capacities of the ICT graduates and professionals in web programming and design, software quality, and e-marketing related tools through the participation in an intensive training program, introducing new technical and highly marketable skills, and information.
The activity will further contribute to wider program objectives, include but is not limited to:
-Creation of new income generation opportunities and increase the employment for youth in the Gaza Strip.
-Increase the technical capacity and market readiness of the ICT sector in the Gaza Strip.
-Develop the capacity of Gaza ICT sector workforce in web programming and design, software quality, and e-marketing related tools to respond to the market needs outside of the sector.
Target Groups: This activity will provide assistance to a wide spectrum of ICT graduates and professionals as outlined in the RFP Document.
Timeframe and training schedule:-
The expected timeframe to deliver all twelve courses and provide the relevant reports is from 12 August - September 20, 2014.
RFP: can be picked up at Mercy Corps Gaza Office, 2nd Floor, and Abu Ghalioun Building from Thursday, June 26, 2014, to Thursday, July 3, 2014 (Ramadan working hours from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm).
A Pre-bid meeting will be held at Mercy Corps office (1st floor) on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
Deadline for bids submission is Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 12:00 PM.
