Terms of Reference
(Training Consultant in Life Skills of Education  for the NTDC project)

Introduction:
Al Azhar University has received a Grant from the quality improvement fund (QIF)_ Ministry of Education and Higher Education- Tertiary Education Project _ Additional financing funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: "A National Teacher Development Center  ". The Grant aims to support the improvement of pre-service teacher education programs academically and professionally, through two pillars, the first one is capacity building for members of education faculty in the area of foundation discipline of education, where as the second one is reviewing and developing the curricula of the foundation discipline in the faculty of education.
Alazhar University is implementing the project in partnership with Islamic University – Gaza and Al-Aqsa University.

Al Azhar University intends to apply part of this grant for the selection and employment of highly qualified Training Consultant in the life Skills of Education.

Assignment Objective:
The main Objective of the consultancy work is to provide the faculty of education members in Palestinian Universities with training of  life skills This training is very important for teachers in order to:
-Handle conflicts—whether between faculty members, teachers and students or among students themselves— in a non-violent manner that respects the rights and dignity of all.
-Use teaching and learning methods that promote participation, cooperation, problem-solving and respect for differences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Prepare a trainers’ guide and training agenda that include detailed session plans for training courses, including step-by-step instructions on setting up and conducting the activities in a participatory manner.
Train a group of 30 – 40 trainees from the faculty of education members in Life skills   of educational process. (Communication and Interpersonal Skills, Negotiation/refusal skills, Empathy, Cooperation and Teamwork,  Advocacy Skills,  Decision-Making and Critical Thinking Skills, Decision making / problem solving skills, Coping and Self-Management Skills, Skills for managing stress and assertiveness).
-Prepare an evaluation tool to measure the percentage of benefits among the trainees.

Deliverable
-Submit a trainers' guide including all details of training courses and training agenda.
-Deliver  a comprehensive report after finishing the assignment  in English    language .(soft and hard copies).

Qualifications
Some key qualifications required of the Consultant (trainer).

Each expert consultant is expected to:
-Have a completed Post Graduate Degree in social sciences, or equivalent qualifications (PhD preferable) .
-Have at least 5 years of relevant teaching experience;
-Have sound pedagogical skills and at least 5 years experience in working with participatory teaching methods;
-Have excellent training and facilitation skills;
-Be able to write in English and interact with international consultant for feedback ,;

Contract Type: Lump Sum.
