The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the worlds largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
Generic responsibilities

To translate child protection and gender based violence standard operating procedures as well as other relevant documents. To provide trainings in line with the procedures.
Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Implement delegated CC project portfolio according to plan of action
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
Ensure proper filing of documents
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

Specific responsibilities

Accurately and efficiently translate a large (over 300 pages) document from English to Arabic
Assist in the development of trainings on the standard operating procedures
Deliver trainings on the standard operating procedures and referral pathways
Translate other documents from either English or Arabic as required
Assist in the translation of relevant documents and tools as related to SOPs and referral pathways
Provide administrative assistance in preparation for the SOPs conferences

Personal qualities

Fluent in English and Arabic - written and spoken
Experience delivering or co-facilitating trainings


Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Minimum of two years experience in translation and interpretation preferably within the field of child protection and gender based violence
In-depth understanding of womens rights and child protection issues within Gaza
Experience in implementing child protection and / or gender based programmes
Excellent interpersonal skills including experience in interagency coordination and donor relations
Flexibility and cultural sensitivity
Strong computer skills - MS Word and Excel

Education level
College / University, Bachelor's degree
Language Arabic English
