Background:

The Department of Safety and Security is responsible for providing leadership, operational support and oversight of the security management system, ensure the maximum security for staff and eligible dependents as well as enable the safest and most efficient conduct of the programmes and activities of the United Nations System.
 
Description of Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO) & Local Security Associate (LSA) for Jerusalem & Israel, and overall supervision of the Deputy Chief Security Adviser, the selected candidate is expected to perform the following tasks:

- Manage documents filing and digital archiving system
- Monitor media sources, obtaining updates and follow up, with focus on Jerusalem & Israel related issues. Collect and collate data for security reporting purposes.
- Prepare updated draft powerpoint for Security Cell meetings.
- Update Jerusalem & Israel warden lists.
- Draft appointment letters for Jerusalem & Israel Wardens.
- Draft documents in Arabic and translate documents from Arabic to English.
- Conduct security briefings.
- Act as facilitator and translator during meetings with counterparts in the absence of the Local Security Assistant (LSA).
- Assist Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO) and LSA with fire safety inspections.
- Assist FSCO and LSA in conducting evacuation drills for UN offices and premises.
- Provide logistic support for external Missions, visitors and VIPs.
- Assist FSCO and LSA in conducting residential assessments.
- Assist FSCO and LSA in conducting Minimum Operating Security Standards Compliance Assessments.
- Assist FSCO and LSA in updating standard operating procedures.
- Assist FSCO and LSA in maintaining contacts lists as required.
- Works with the Joint Security Coordination Office (JSCO) team on security related tasks.

Assist  FSCO / LSA in the preparations and management of various security training programmes and other related tasks.

- Prepare and maintain the UNDSS IWBG annual training schedule and call for nominations accordingly.
- Book / coordinate training venues as required.
- Prepare / update all relevant training materials, handouts, certificates, etc..
- Keep / update records of imparted training sessions & attending UN personnel.
- Prepare and maintain training database and provide various reports as requested.

- Assist in fulfilling the required information flow and updating JSCO (Joint Security Coordination Office) on Jerusalem & Israel related issues.
- Prepare required details (incident summaries, data base related information etc…)  in support of DSA , FSCO & LSA.
- Maintain international staff and dependents lists.
- Stand in for LSA when necessary.
- Perform any other duties as instructed by respective supervisor.

Based on the key functions and expected results, the impact is expected to have better performance, better clients’ assistance in providing safety and security related training sessions, better time management, better planning and maintaining databases of UNDSS I/WB/G various training packages.

Qualifications :

Education :
2 years diploma or BA of business Administration, operations, or security studies is an asset.

Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in security related field.
Language Requirements: English and Arabic (fluent), Hebrew would be considered an important asset.
A valid driving license in Jerusalem.
