UNESCO | Logistic Security Assistant & Security Guard
Job Description
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) invites suitably
qualified candidates to apply for the two positions of :
Logistic Security Assistant – Ref. LSA and
Security Guard – Ref. SG to be based at UNESCO Office in Ramallah.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office (HoO), and with the direct guidance of the
Administrative Officer (AO), the incumbent will perform the following duties
First Position:
Logistic Assistant and Security Focal Point
-Be responsible for following-up office maintenance;
-Assist in IT interventions with the Administrative Assistant;
-Assist the AO in monitoring staff annual leave;
-Set in place serial code numbers on office equipment;
-Register incoming and outgoing mail;
-Act as the focal point between the HoO/AO and the five office security guards to ensure that the
relevant issues are conveyed to senior management and to arrange the guards monthly schedule.
-Update on a regular basis, the database related to UNESCO staff and their families, and provide
this information to DSS.
-Receive notifications of visitors from UNESCO staff and consultants and follow up closely with the security guard to prepare the ISECT and security clearances for field and Gaza Strip visits when required;
-Coordinate and organize all the logistical and security aspects related to staff and consultant
mission in and out of Gaza, including circulation of security advisories to staff/consultants, preparation of transportation and accommodation;
-Perform any other duties as may be required by the Supervisor.
Second Position:
Security Guard
The Guard is responsible for the physical security and protection of UN Staff, property and installations.
-Providing physical access and egress at UN facilities and physically denying entry to all unauthorized persons;
-Controlling access and egress of all UN property ensuring that no weapons nor goods are carried into the offices nor facilities;
-Ensure effective vehicle search is conducted at all vehicle entrances and periodic physical personnel searches at all access and egress points to the UN facilities;
-Safeguard all UN vehicles in the car park and direct and control traffic during peak hours as necessary;
-Conduct routine perimeter and compound patrols of the UN buildings and compound giving particular attention to finance offices, fire hazard points, office doors and other vulnerable points and report all abnormalities observed during the period of duty to the JSCO and the Focal Point;
-Ensure proper registry of guards daily notes and that handover books are in place;
-Ensure high standard of guard presentation, diligence to duties, responsiveness and that alertness is maintained at all times;
-Ensuring cleanliness and serviceability of post equipment at all times and report any damage, loss or malfunction to the Focal Point immediately;
-Perform any other job-related duties as required.
