United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is willing to fill the following vacant post:
Title: Finance Assistant, Jerusalem
Level: GS6– Fixed Term Appointment – IMIS No. 21693

Key Tasks and responsibilities of the Assignment
Under the general supervision of the Finance Officer, performs moderately specialized tasks in the accounting and finance functions through undertaking the following key tasks:
1. Performs Periodic budget updates related to various cash requisitions to support the
operational expenses charged to support budget and project support
2. Processes payroll, staff advances, external expenditures, VCU’s, intra-office payments,
MPO’s, Ensures the Signature Panel for ZBA and local signatory panel always current,
special cash accounts and its replenishment.
3. Maintains and performs reconciliations of bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts
receivables, PAR accounts and adding new payees in ProMs. Follow up with staff
periodically to ensure entries in PAR accounts are cleared.
4. Performs monthly closure of accounts, and maintain files reports of the year end closure
while assuring the conduction of review for liquidations and reimbursements.
5. Performs Counterparts briefing on UNICEF financial rules and regulations
6. Monitors CAG/HACT reports, outstanding balances and ProMs system for old draft
payments and cash requisitions
7. Maintains Finance Emergency Preparedness Plan, Vendors and suppliers lists in ProMs
8. Assists in the preparations for frequent audit, counterpart assessment while maintaining assessment files
9. Prepares journal vouchers, bank replenishment requests, and monitor bank activities
(Charges and transfers).
10. Assists in OBO’s monitoring and closure
11. Performs other duties, as required
Selection Criteria
Academic Qualifications

Completion of secondary education preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in the field of finance and accounting
Work Experience
Six years experience in accounting clerical work. Experience in an international organization is an advantage.

Languages Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written). Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
Computer Very good working knowledge and use of computer applications, specifically office applications (Power Point, Excel and Word) and internet tools. Use of database and statistical software an asset.
