United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is willing to fill the following vacant position:
Title:Programme Assistant, Jerusalem
Level:GS5– Fixed Term appointment, 1 year renewable.
Key Tasks and
responsibilities of the Assignment
1-Under close supervision of the chief Child Protection, contributes to programme planning, administration, implementation and evaluation of programme/project activities, data analysis and progress reporting to ensure that the following key results are achieved:
2-Collects information mainly from records and reports and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports on programme and project activities.
3-Organizes data and information, prepares and maintains records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of project/programme implementation.
4-Contributes to the preparation of reports, project documents and submissions to governments by providing information, preparing tables and drafting relatively routine sections. Prepares background information for use in discussions with governments and other organizations. Participates in the briefing and debriefing of project personnel.
5-Scrutinizes plans of operations, exchanges of letters and takes appropriate follow-up action. Assists in the administrative process of government requests for assistance.
6-Reviews and verifies finacial documentations for cash disbusements provided to the implementing partners and prepares the nessascery reports upon spot checks .
7-May be required to carry out specific administrative operational/control tasks for project/programme activities.
8-Performs other duties, as required.
Selection Criteria
Academic Qualifications
Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in a field related to the work of the Work Experience
Six years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, of which at least one year was closely related to support of programme activities.
Competencies
Analytical and conceptual ability; communication skills. Planning and monitoring skills; ability to organize work & projects. Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions. Commitment to continuous learning for professional development.
Languages
Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written). Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
Computer
Very good working knowledge and use of computer applications, specifically office applications (Power Point, Excel and Word) and internet tools. Use of database and statistical software an asset.
