In close and constant coordination with the UNIFEM oPt Media and Advocacy Officer, under UNIFEM oPt Women's Human Rights Officer direct supervision and the Head of the UNIFEM oPt office overall supervision; the Special Event Coordinator will have the following duties and responsibilities for the development, organization and successful implementation of the 3rd Palestinian cultural festival to be celebrated in the framework and on the occasion of the annual 16-Day Campaign to Combat Violence Against Women (3rd Festival to Combat Violence Against Women):
:
-Coordinate the promotion, advertising, organization and implementation of the 3rd Festival to Combat Violence Against Women;
-Act as the primary contact with the Festival partners in confirming event details and relaying information;
-Call for coordination meetings with the Festival partners;
-Report regularly, throughout the organization period, to the participating UN Agencies and partners to the Festival;
-Act as the focal point for the Festival Artistic Company;
-Provide expert advise on the outreach and media strategy of the Festival to increase youth audience attendance and improve the diffusion of messages;
-In coordination with the UNIFEM Media and Advocacy Officer ensure implementation of outreach and media strategy of the Festival according to the plan finalized with and approved by the UNIFEM oPt Office;
-In liaison with the Festival Artistic Company, ensure broadcasting of the Festival TV and radio spots, in coordination with UNIFEM focal point for the initiative;
-Support the UNIFEM Media and Advocacy Officer to ensure the live broadcast of the festival;
-Identify design/printing companies to produce outreach materials including brochures, posters and other printed materials as defined with and approved by UNIFEM;
-Follow-up the development of the outreach material and gather feedback from Festival Partners and UNIFEM;
-Gather final written approval from Festival Partners and UNIFEM before printing any material related to the Festival; Follow-up and ensure timely material production;
-Develop and implement a distribution plan of the outreach material;
-Ensure upload of the Festival programme on relevant websites;
-Liaise in coordination with the UNIFEM Media and Advocacy Officer, with UNIFEM HQ for media/web vis-à-vis relevant global UNIFEM campaign;
-Pursue, in close coordination with UNIFEM Media and Advocacy Officer local, national, regional and international media outlets in order to secure press coverage for the Festival;
-Draft and manage a list of invitees for the Festival (gather names, titles, emails and fax numbers); Ensure protocols are respected and send Festival invitations; ;
-Supervise the Artistic Company regarding the provision of transportation to the audience (appropriate and in line with the Festival schedule) and ensure proper follow up with the identified groups concerned by the transportation;
-Provide the UNIFEM Media and Advocacy Officer and the UNIFEM oPt Women Human Rights Officer with regular updates on the evolution of the Festival; on project implementation on a regular basis;
-Update UNIFEM regularly on any changes in project implementation process;
-Assist the Festival Artistic Company in developing a final written narrative and financial report, no later than 30 days after the end of the Festival;
-Perform other duties related to the festival implementation as required and agreed upon within the UNIFEM team responsible for the festival organization.

Qualifications/Requirements:

-A minimum of 3 years event planning/coordination experience;
-Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing or related field required;
-Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with a wide variety of stakeholders;
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
-Excellent creativity, along with strong organization, problem solving, communications and negotiation, skills;
-Previous experience with another international organization an asset;
-Fluency in both English and Arabic essential;
-Gender sensitive and understanding of the UN mission;
-Experienced with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Database Management.
