Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Technical Assistance

The Palestine Techno Park (PTP) is a non-profit organization established in 2016 and is a member of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), a leading global network for science parks and areas of innovation.

The PTP is seeking energetic talent to fill a technical assistance (TA) position for Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) Lab Expert at its temporary office at Birzeit University.

The STTA VR/AR Lab Expert will handle the design, launch, mentoring the program staff as well as developing the key performance indicators of the AR/VR Innovation Lab at the PTP.

The VR/AR innovation lab is a resource for academics, entrepreneurs, students, startups and established companies working on projects and developing products in the virtual, augmented and mixed reality. The PTP VR/AR innovation lab will be equipped with technologies that includes various software and design platforms, multiple headset configurations, workstations, and filming resources to help the entrepreneurial community experiment and create innovations in a wide range of industries.

This position will report directly to the PTP CEO or Program Manager.

She/he should have experience, knowledge, initiative and drive to be a forceful champion in the organization.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Develop VR/AR Innovation Lab Concept and Design

1-Develops a brief concept and proposal to launch the VR/AR Innovation Lab

2-Develop the operational manual for the lab including training and usage rules, policies, membership and security and other relevant operational items

3-Develop the design of behavioral and physical interfaces for interaction and immersion of the VR/AR Innovation Lab

Develop Terms of Reference

1-Develop the VR/AR lab equipment schema and its specifications based on technological and competitive systems as well as the procurement terms of reference for the lab equipment.

The equipment should include the workstations, AR/VR gear, software, cameras, other production software and equipment including estimated cost.

2-Developing the terms of reference for the VR/AR innovation lab staff, trainers and mentors to be recruited Develop Training Material for VR/AR

Training

1-Developing the training material for students and entrepreneurs to learn how to use the VR/AR innovation lab equipment and software

Develop Indicators

1-Developing the key performance indicators of the VR/AR lab Develop Schedule of Activities

1-Design the annual events and activities for the VR/AR lab

2-Be a speaker for an inspiration and awareness workshop and recommend others

Develop Sustainability Models

1-Develop the business model and revenue streams for the VR/AR innovation lab for its sustainability

2-Advise on strategies to engage with all community stakeholders including university researchers, entrepreneurs, private sectors, students and other relevant parties

3-Advise on strategies to develop partnerships with multinationals for branding the VR/AR Innovation Lab

Holds PhD or Masters degrees in Computer Science.

An experienced technologist with entrepreneurial background who has focused on VR/AR related technology, industry, application development and venture creation.

Candidate should have experience in the application of digital technology, or conducted research and projects with focus on immersive digital technologies (e.g. VR and AR) such as design, gaming, and human-computer-interaction.

Additional skills in 3D art modeling, computer engineering education, scenario design, Unity and design thinking is preferred.

He/she is preferred to have a wide set of knowledge and skills through long-term practice with various popular hardware platforms.
