Duties:
 
One of seven Locally Engaged (LE) staff members assigned to the Immigrant Visa (IV) Unit.  The unit processes a complex IV case load for applicants resident in Jerusalem, West Bank, Gaza and all of Israel.  This complexity requires an advanced level of expertise on local laws and customs, as well as strong communication skills.  The staff member must work with applicants and Consular officers on multiple non-routine cases each day and determine next steps among a complex set of potential actions.  Staff prepare immigrant visas, Asylum and Refugee cases, as well as US Citizenship and Immigration Services cases for processing; flag and track visa cases that involve special humanitarian, political, public relations, fraud, terrorism or criminal considerations to the American officer's attention.  They answer public inquiries by phone or email and also draft post-adjudication memoranda, including security advisory opinions, revocation recommendations and official correspondence.

Job Requirements
Experience:
 
A minimum of three years of experience in the area of visa work, other related work in the consular field, or an area related to customer service involving the application of relatively complex legal or regulatory material.
 
Education Requirements:
 
A minimum of two years college or university studies is required.
