The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem is seeking two individuals for the position of Warehouseman in the General Services Office.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent is responsible for unloading incoming supplies, furniture, equipment and moving them between the warehouse and various offices and residences. Opens packing boxes or storage crates and breaks down pallet loads; moves supplies to proper storage areas, using fork lift trucks, hand trucks, and other equipment. Loads furniture, equipment and supplies onto trucks, drives and delivers such items to various locations throughout Jerusalem, and occasionally the West Bank and Israel. Assists in checking storage areas to insure that items of supply are properly stored in the correct locations, and that no safety or fire hazards exist; keeps storage areas clean. Assists in conducting inventories and supports warehouse colleagues during warehouse sales of government property. Incumbent must be available and willing to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Completion of Secondary School is required.
  • A minimum of one year prior work experience in general supply operations is required.
  • Level II (Limited) in English and Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in Hebrew and/or Arabic are required.
  • Must be physically capable of performing heavy work and lifting heavy objects.
  • Must be able to operate warehouse equipment.
  • Must have Israeli C driver license.


SELECTION PROCESS:

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
  • Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
  • EFMs who currently hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of that appointment.
  • Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
  • Candidates are subject to testing for language, computer or other position related skills.
