Work context
CESVI has been working in Palestine since 1994, and it has developed over the years an expertise in the area of water, sanitation and environment through the implementation of projects in the field, establishing partnerships with relevant actors in the sector and thanks to active participation in the WASH cluster.
CESVI is currently implementing projects in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip.
In response to the situation in the Gaza Strip, CESVI is planning expanding its team, through implementation of emergency and humanitarian relief response interventions. This includes but not limited to food security and basic needs assistance, and improving access to water and shelter.
Job Purpose: lead on the implementation and management of WASH activities in the different locations in the Gaza strip.
In particular, under the coordination of the Emergency Coordinator and in collaboration with the other WASH officer, the incumbent is expected to:
WASH activities implementation:
- Supervise WASH emergency response in all governorates of Gaza strip where CESVI is operational.
- Lead on WASH field activities implemented by CESVI, partners’ organizations, and community groups.
- Ensure that WASH response is carried out in a way that is sensitive to community needs, gender and protection issues.
- Lead on designing and implementing field assessments to inform the WASH emergency response.
- Design, write and budget WASH emergency response
- Lead on WASH activities timely and quality reporting for donors
- Assist in collecting best practices, case studies which demonstrate qualitative and quantitative changes over the period.
- Liaise with CESVI support functions (Finance, Logistics,) regarding payments suppliers and compliance.
Collaboration and coordination
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to elaborate and implement the MEAL planning for WASH activities
- Represent CESVI on WASH Cluster and other coordination mechanisms
- Support the partners and WASH team in developing the projects reports on time in compliance with the donor templates and requirements.

Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in water management, engineering, public health.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in WASH activities, preferably humanitarian and development sector.
- Writing and communication skills in Arabic and English.
- Strong interpersonal skills, specifically negotiation and diplomacy skills
- Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), knowledge of and experience on the use of Kobo toolbox for data collection
- Valid local driver's license
The assignment is a full-time post expected to start immediately. Subject to satisfactory performance, the period of employment may be extended.
Please note that it is a project-based post and does not imply continued employment with CESVI after the end of the contract period.
