Water & Habitat Engineer

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance.

The ICRC in Gaza is looking for a candidate to fill in the following post

Main Skills required for the post
-University Degree in engineering
-4 years work experience in a similar field
-Fluent in written and spoken English
-Team Leadership skills
-Good knowledge o the geographical assigned area
-Good computer skills (MS Office, Autocad)
-Respecting confidentiality, Flexibility, diplomacy an Negotiation skills
-Ability to present the ICRC and other activities while abiding by the principles of the movement,
-most importantly neutrality and impartiality

Main Tasks
-Follow up on developments of main events in Gaza mainly in water and sanitation sector
-Internal coordination with other ICRC departments and contacts with external interlocutors, partners and other NGOs, agencies working in the same sector.
-Define solutions to problems identified in relation to water, sanitation and environmental improvement
-Reviews proposal and design projects including concept proposal, time plan for implementation,technical drawings, bill of quantities and technical specification.
-Apply ICRC standard procurement procedures for engineering works, including preparation of ToR for consultancy, contracts for construction works, complete tender documents, evaluation and selection of bids.
-In coordination with main partner in implementation, follow up on projects and respect timelines,technical specifications and standards of quality.
-Tracking of expenses and review of payments' requests submitted by contractor
-Prepare assessment reports, minutes of meetings, concept papers for new projects, monitoring reports during implementation and upon completion of projects.

In accordance with the Resolution No. 17, 2010 of the Gaza Ministry of Interior, applicants who
have a running contract with a Ministry will not be selected.
