World food programmE/Finance Assistant
To be based in Jerusalem
1- Initiate payment processing according to WFP financial rules and regulations;
2- Prepare bank reconciliations, review locally recoverable items, Imprest summaries and funding sheet summaries;
3- Maintain proper control over various financial records such as commitments and expenditures against budgeted amounts; initiate actions related to the following; general financial information, and travel payments, and procurement transactions;
4- Verify vendor claims for accuracy and conformance with WFP finance rules and regulations; perform claim verifications against documentation to ensure that purchases/services are properly authorized and that the goods have been received or services rendered; and ensure timely recording and processing of vendor invoices in the Programme’s information system;
5- Prepare necessary receipt and journal vouchers;
6- Verify VAT claims and maintain proper filling.
7-Follow up on the new EMOP project (Voucher distribution system).
8-Assist in the preparation of budget, accounting, financial reports, statistical reports and other reports as required;
9-Operate a variety of office equipment such as photocopier, facsimile, printer, and maintain supplies; produce photocopies of materials as required and collate pages when necessary.
10-Maintain proper filing system.
11-Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Secondary school education including or supplemented by courses related to the area of work. Experience:
At least three years of progressively responsible clerical work experience in general administrative work including at least one year in the field of finance, accounting, budget, audit or other related field. Knowledge:
Experience utilising computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other WFP standard software packages and systems. General knowledge of UN system financial policies, rules, regulations and procedures. Language:
· Fluency in both oral and written communication in English & Arabic languages.
Desirable skills:
(Additional skills which the candidate should possess to provide a competitive edge versus other candidates)
· Knowledge of WFP manuals in the area of finance and/or budget.
· Experience utilising computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other WFP standard software packages and systems.
· General knowledge of UN system financial policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
· Knowledge of WFP manuals in the area of finance and/or budget.
