IREX is an international nonprofit organization providing thought leadership and innovative programs to promote positive lasting change globally. IREX enables local individuals and institutions to build key elements of a vibrant society: quality education and innovative youth development programming, independent media, and strong communities.
In the West Bank and Gaza, IREX is implementing the USAID funded Partnerships with Youth (PWY) program. The PWY program will expand educational and leadership opportunities for youth age 14-29 throughout the West Bank by creating sustainable hubs for youth innovation and learning in different fields such as Media, ICT, soft skills, communication, languages, sports etc. The PWY program builds on and expands USAID-supported Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs) to create opportunities with and for youth - for active youth learning and innovation in the West Bank. The program will improve the organizational environment of three existing YDRCs, establish eight new YDRCs, and build a network of youth centers in rural areas. IREX and USAID will also build supportive partnerships so that youth have better access to educational and leadership opportunities that respond to their aspirations.
IREX seeks a Youth Employability Specialist to provide technical expertise and project management support to the USAID-funded Partnerships with Youth program in the West Bank. The position is for an initial six months, with the possibility of an extension.
Summary of Responsibilities:
-Develop vision and strategy for PWY employability programming;
-Design and deliver training workshops to youth that will strengthen skills related to employability, including communication skills, teamwork and collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking, as well as writing cover letters and CVs, interviewing skills, and organizing, planning and time management;
-Conduct training-of-trainer (TOT) workshops and provide technical assistance to staff of Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs) in employability topics;
-Recruit and manage short-term trainers and consultants with expertise in employability topics, as necessary;
-Oversee and assist with implementation of employability activities and training courses at the YDRCs;
-Develop and implement a plan to institute internship programs for youth through the YDRCs;
-Recruit youth for participation in internship programs, and oversee and conduct training for youth on how to identify and secure an internship;
-Recruit public/private enterprises to serve as internship hosts, and oversee and conduct training for public/private enterprises on how to provide an effective internship for youth;
-Oversee Tamheed career advising services offered through the YDRCs and provide content for the Ta3mal website;
-Contribute to program communications, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting as requested.
-Represent IREX and support its organizational development; and
-Other duties as assigned that contribute to the overall success of the project.
Skills and Qualifications:
-Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and need a minimum of five years of progressive experience in the following areas;
-Experience managing and implementing youth employment programs in the West Bank or the MENA Region, experience with U.S. government-funded or other donor-funded programs preferred;
-Demonstrated program management expertise, and ability to prepare and manage a work plan, and plan strategically and creatively to meet specified objectives;
-Experience designing and conducting training workshops and other activities to develop employability skills of youth;
-Experience providing technical assistance and support to youth-serving organizations on employability-related programs;
-In-depth knowledge of and experience in best practices in youth employability programming;
-Experience managing internship programs or other practical workplace training programs for youth;
-Superior writing, editing, and oral presentation skills, evidenced by professional experience;
-Experience with program communications and outreach;
-Strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize and multi-task;
-International work and/or educational experience preferred; and
-Strong English and Arabic language skills required.
