UNRWA is the United Nations agency responsible for the protection, care and human development of a population of some 4.6 million Palestine refugees living in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
- Supervises the receipt and custody of all Dual list construction material arriving to Kerem Shalom for the UNRWA construction projects through the coordination process;
- Checks receipt of construction materials and prepares appropriate supply documentation; ensures that all the quantity of construction material on the coordination manifest is received; ensures the excess quantity is confiscated;
- Coordinates with Access Team leader to ensure that Team leader has organized convoying of all trucks with construction material that arrived for UNRWA construction projects;
- Coordinates with Engineering team at Kerem shalom to ensure that the construction material that arrived is matches the requested specifications and quality;
- Releases all construction material received at Kerem Shalom for UNRWA construction projects, according to the delivery manifest prepared with the coordination documents for that day; follows up and coordinates with the Construction Access team to ensure that construction amterial arrived to specific destination according to the coordination manifest;
- Maintains records system for the Construction Access team warehouse in Karni where confiscated construction material is stored. Prepares daily stores issues, receipt sheets and relevant stores demand notes; also monitoring the length of time construction material is stored at Karni;
- Provides the reports on the quantities received following each coordination, weekly and monthly;
- Responsible for safety, security and cleanliness of the assigned warehouse under his/her custody;
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
- Successful completion of secondary education;
- Diploma in business and office practice or other related discipline;
- Five years’ experience in storekeeping or logistics function;
- Good command of English and Arabic;
- Leadership skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and cope with heavy workload;
- Knowledge and ability to operate basic computer software used by the agency.
- Capacity to work beyond working hours if required;
- Integrity in relation to keeping stock record of the construction material received for UNRWA projects;
- Ability to take initiative in resolving problems related to his work;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
- Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $962.00; and monthly dependency allowance $18.65 and Group Medical Insurance GMI $12.00.
- Contract Duration: Six months (Extension is subject to continued need, availability of funds and satisfactory service.
- Leave: 30 days annual leave.
- Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
- A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through Secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
EQUIVALENCY
When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources; in consultation with the Director of UNRWA Operations, Gaza may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.
NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
