UNRWA is the United Nations agency responsible for the protection, care and human development of a population of some 4.6 million Palestine refugees living in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic. The Agency is committed to assisting Palestine refugees in maintaining a decent standard of living, acquiring appropriate knowledge and skills, enjoying the fullest possible extent of human rights, and leading a long and healthy life. UNRWA is by far the largest UN operation in the Middle East with over 29,000 staff. Most of the staff members are refugees themselves, working directly to benefit their communities – as teachers, doctors, nurses or social workers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:

-Shoots and deliver still photos for at high professional level for press purposes, public information media, donor related tasks and other projects/events.
-Adheres to UNRWA ethics on dignity of beneficiaries and general protection guidelines.
-Writes captions in English in a systematic and tag friendly way.
-Clears and stores cleared photo and rushes in accordance to archive settings.
-Maintains professional equipment in a responsible and structured way.
-Archives rushes/shots and complete show/pictures at servers and other applications.
-Manages photo archiving including tagging.
-Performs any other tasks assigned by manager/team.
-Adheres to UNRWA staff code and UNRWA work ethics.
-Works with children and adolescents in a respectful manner.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
-Two years Diploma at relevant faculty (arts, media, film etc).
-Previous professional photography experience.
-Minimum three years of relevant working experience (or 5 if no diploma degree).
-Professional operating experience with professional camera and equipment.
-Experience with photographing for a variety of media events understanding the use of photos related to different media.
-Ability to work in English language – written and spoken.
-It’s desirable to have a knowledge of or experience with the wider humanitarian (UN/NGO) system.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
-Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $977.42
-Contract Duration: Six months. Extension is subject to continued need, availability of funds and satisfactory service.
-Leave: 30 days annual leave.
-Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.

 

ASSESSMENT METHOD
