Heritage Studies Expert
Introduction
Birzeit University has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) - Education to Work Transition Project - Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: Development of Palestinian Archaeology program for Rural Tourism. Accordingly, Birzeit University seeks the selection and employment of a Heritage Studies Expert.
Assignment Objective:
Birzeit University is considering the selection of highly qualified heritage studies expert responsible for integrating rural heritage in the educational program at Birzeit University and conducting training in the field.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
-Supervise, Coach and monitor the implementation of training component in the taught module.
-Assist students training and propose final student projects in heritage tourism and tracks.
-Create a survey evaluating the projects integrating archaeological and tradition architecture heritage in rural tourism.
-Conduct advanced ToT training in rural tourism for staff and partners.
-Work with the partners in developing training packages in rural tourism and related tracks and advise on the best practices modules to be integrated within the program at Birzeit University.
-Produce an evaluation report of the heritage tourism components in the thought modules
Qualifications & Skills:
-Minimum Master Degree in Archaeology, Heritage or any other related fields
-Preferable knowledge in rural tourism projects and tracks of rural areas
-Knowledge of the Palestinian Heritage.
-Minimum three years teaching at the University level with proven experience in conducting at least three TOT.
-Skills in databases management.
-Flexibility in time.
Deliverables:
-Inception report and workplan.
-A training Manual in Heritage tourism.
-Assessment survey of the heritage projects in rural areas.
-List of potential student’s project based on the survey.
-24 hours ToT workshop.
-120 practical coaching and training hours in heritage and tourism related to the taught modules
-12 days of coaching student projects with at least one producing rural tourism tracks.
-Final Report.
Place of work: Birzeit University
Time Frame: February 2016 to February 2017.
Contract Type: Lump Sum Contract.
