BACKGROUND:

Founded in 1993, Médecins du Monde Switzerland is a medical association of international solidarity that is part of the Médecins du Monde network. We provide sustainable access to health care for people in vulnerable situations in Switzerland and around the world.

MdM Switzerland, has been working in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) since 1994 in the sector of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), implementing emergency and development interventions, focusing on victim of occupation-related violence, children and detention, suicide prevention and management, strengthen of access to mental health cares at national and community level, and advocacy initiative.

MAIN OBJECTIVE:                 

Provide advanced clinical expertise to optimize patient care, ensuring that individuals receive the most effective and tailored mental health interventions, including the conduct of thorough psychiatric assessments

FUNCTIONS

Main responsibilities  of the Psychiatrists/clinical psychologist can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.

Roles and responsibilities:

The consultant will provide needed MH services to cases referred by MDM technical team or/and its partners for treatment, and this will include: 

Assessment and Diagnosis: Psychiatrists will conduct assessments to diagnose mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
Treatment Planning: Based on the assessment, the psychiatrist/psychologist will develop an individualized treatment plan that may include therapy, medication, or a combination of both.
Therapy: Therapist will provide different types of therapy, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, and psycho-dynamic therapy; to help individuals improve their coping skills, manage symptoms, and address underlying issues that may be contributing to their mental health problems.
Medication Management: Psychiatrists shall prescribe medication to treat mental health conditions and manage their symptoms. They are also supposed to monitor and adjust the medication as needed to ensure that it is working effectively and minimize side effects.

Reporting and evaluation 

The consultant should provide follow up reports about each case to the MHPSS advisor and project manager at MDM-CH.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

A valid license to practice psychiatry.
Board certification in psychiatry.
Demonstrate minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
Good skills in writing and reporting

CONSALTANCY DURATION:

The consultancy duration will be for one year with possibility of extension.
