For Mapping of branding, marketing and general business development support services to be provided by the Palestinian Business Prosperity Center Project.

Title of the assignment Business Development Expert- short term consultancy 

Brief description of the assignment  SEC is seeking the service of a Business development expert to assess targeted businesses’  capacity in different fields, mainly the export readiness and branding assessment , especial focus will be on tenants in the Jericho industrial Park.  

Place of the assignment Jericho, Ramallah, West Bank, there is a need to conduct field visits in the West Bank 

Duration of the assignment 1 month

Expected number of working days 12 days 

Individual Business development Expert 

Background: 

Small Enterprise Center (SEC) Association is a Palestinian non-profit organization that was founded in 2002. In 2008, SEC was officially registered as an independent non-profit organization governed by the Palestinian Law of Charitable Associations and Community Organizations No.1 for the year 2000. SEC is a leading national organization serving Palestinian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and social enterprises (including cooperatives) over Palestine where Gaza Office has started provision of business development services for SMEs since 2008.

SEC is currently implementing the Mapping of branding, marketing and general business development support services to be provided by the Palestinian Business Prosperity Center project. In partnership With UNPD PalPro. Under this project scope, SEC is looking forward to hire a Business development Expert to support in performing all required Brand and export assessment activities, enhance a company's ability to reach export markets and support in developing their brand identity, the needed reports in both Arabic and English languages.

2.0 Purpose of the consultancy:

SEC and its partners are seeking offers from suitably qualified expert to provide Business development service on “Mapping of branding, marketing, export capacity and general business development support services to be provided by the Palestinian Business Prosperity Center” project.

The specific objectives of this TORs are: 

1. Support SEC and its partners to develop tools and assess current companies brands and export readiness.  
2. To advise and contribute to the assessed companies and design interventions 
3. Develop strategies aims to increase companies’ capacity to reach regional markets.
4. Identify gaps and propose action plans to develop tenants brands and export capacity.

Main activities 

This position will suit someone who is highly methodical, detailed, and hard working with a creative spark and sound knowledge and understanding of  the business community on the targeted sector 

Responsibilities and tasks 

• Review relevant document and studies 
• Conduct field visits to potential beneficiaries and audience including leverage customer insight data to refine brand management.
• Conduct field visits to 7 companies in the industrial park in Jericho 
• Interview other companies representatives operating in agro-food  sector to analysis their export capacity
• Come up with solutions to develop brands for individual companies 
• Come up with solutions to support companies exports in the Agriculture and agro-processed sectors 
• Formulate reports on branding in both Arabic and English
• Formulate report on export capacity per company. 

The expert will work closely with project staff and PalPro to develop and implement a Banding strategy during the assignment period.

4.0 Deliverables: 

The contract will be signed between SEC and the expert. The followings are the expected deliverables from the expert/s:

1. Inception report
2. Meetings with Project staff 
3. Report on the field visits for 7 companies and propose a plan to develop their brands identity and export capacity 
4. Report on the workshop to assess the branding and export capacity of selected farmers and agro-food processors 
5. Develop a strategic framework report 
6. At least five engaging and professional materials /platform 
7. Develop a final narrative report. The language of all reports shall be in in English  

5.0 Qualifications and Work Experience of the Expert

It is expected that the expert shall provide the following expertise:

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business development, logistics or export,  Marketing, or a related discipline 
• Minimum 7 years of experience in business branding with local organizations (experience in international organization or government is an added value)
• Written and spoken fluently in English and Arabic.
• At least 5 years of experience in providing such services to beneficiaries. 

7.0 Duration of Appointment: 

The expected level of effort of the expert is around 12 working days, within 1 months’ time are foreseen for conducting this assignment’s activities from signing the contract. This assignment expected to start at Sunday 1st March 2022. 

8.0 Logistic Support for the Expert by SEC

SEC will provide information, and documents on PalPro and this assignment. The expert will be responsible for covering the transportation costs, telecommunication coordinating with stakeholders, other costs might occur due to the assignment. 

9.0 Deadlines for Submitting CVs, and Technical and Financial Offers
