Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI)
Gaza Pop-Up or Co-work Spaces
Context
Gaza Sky Geeks (GSG) has been a cornerstone of Gaza's tech ecosystem for over a decade, cultivating tech talent and providing inclusive, collaborative workspace solutions. Our safe, inclusive, and collaborative community and coworking spaces have been an environment that fosters learning, economic activity, and social connections with over 50 percent female representation.
Since October 2023, there has been massive destruction of life, livelihoods, and infrastructure (including GSG’s three large coworking spaces). In light of recent events since October 2023, GSG is committed to supporting the revival of Gaza's tech community through geographically dispersed co-working spaces. This will provide the foundation in Gaza for existing tech talent (individuals and companies) to secure digital work opportunities to revive the tech economy, for students to continue online education, and will provide venues to interact, in-person and online.
Objectives of the Activity – Pop-Up or Coworking Spaces
GSG seeks to partner with organizations, and or companies to support the establishment, expansion, or operation of co-working spaces that will enable tech professionals and students to:
- Resume online work and educational activities
- Reconnect with global digital opportunities
- Rebuild professional networks and communities
Despite the catastrophic destruction across all of Gaza, the tech sector will be the fastest to rebuild, and the existence or new establishment of pop-up or coworking spaces utilizing existing infrastructure and equipment will accelerate this. These maybe temporary, purposefully created or more permanent workspaces provided they are safe and inclusive.
EOI Details
GSG is seeking Expressions of Interest from service providers who already have established co-working spaces, or soon plan to open and operate a co-working or pop-up workspace. After the pilot period, GSG will determine whether to continue with the ongoing operation of the workspace(s).
GSG envisions supporting the operation of multiple spaces in partnership with local private enterprises, facilitating essential access to communal and supportive working spaces with internet and electricity. The number of spaces GSG is able to support is dependent on the budget of those selected.
