EcoPalestine is the Palestinian affiliate of EcoPeace Middle East, a unique organization that brings together Jordanian, Palestinian, and Israeli environmentalists. Our primary objective is the promotion of cooperative efforts to protect our shared environmental heritage. In so doing, we seek to advance both sustainable regional development and the creation of necessary conditions for lasting peace in our region.

Project Background

EcoPeace Middle East is working in the field of Youth Education, Environmental Advocacy and Climate Change Policies.

The Climate and Water Diplomacy Training for Young Professionals program improves the competencies of emerging young leaders. It consists of three program tracks which includes national, regional and advanced trainings, which are conducted over the time frame of a year. These trainings provide an opportunity for young professionals to acquire knowledge, skills, and practical experiences, about climate diplomacy and its complexities.

The project encourages young professionals to become active water and environmental change-makers on the local and regional levels. As such, this project empowers young professionals to apply their knowledge and networks to help advance solutions to shared environmental issues.

Currently the training is in its  last stage and focuses on applying and implementing projects based on their newly gained skills and knowledge. For this stage, EcoPeace Ramallah office is seeking a Project Mentor. The Project Mentor will work directly with the Education Coordinator for Young Professionals and the Program Manager to plan, execute and mentor EcoPeace’s Water and Climate Diplomacy participants' national projects in the fields of: Advance Climate & Water Diplomacy, Community & Leadership, and Media & Storytelling.  The Project Mentor will be tasked to support the mentees  in developing their own project in each of the above mentioned fields. The mentees develop their projects from ideation to planning, to be presented at the end of the program in a 7-10 minute pitch presentation. The project plans should include all aspects to support the projects for future implementation opportunities, including funding, workplan, timeframe, impact assessment etc.

Estimated Timeframe of the mentorship: Five months throughout (April - August 2023)

Role & Main tasks:

Mentor will serve as advisor to the young people who will participate in the initiatives. The mentor will have 3 groups under his/her supervision , executing the below tasks

Mentorship and guidance of Young Professionals in the development of their Water and Climate Diplomacy projects.
Regular meetings and constant communication with the Young Professionals during their project development.
Regular meetings and communication with the Education Coordinator for Young Professionals and the Program Manager, this includes updating and reporting on the progress and the future developments of the three planned projects.
Attending national and regional trainings related to the Climate Diplomacy Program.
Assisting the Climate Diplomacy Program recruitment process.

Expectations for projects mentorship:

To mentor, guide, and lead the program’s participants' projects (3 Groups for three topic)
Flexibility to accommodate virtual meetings with the participants. Some meetings may be held outside conventional working hours.
3 weekly virtual meetings with project groups (April-August 2023)
One preparatory in-person meeting with the EcoPeace Education Staff (April 2023)
One mid-term in-person meeting with the EcoPeace Education Staff (June 2023)

One final evaluation in-person meeting with the EcoPeace Education Staff (August 2023)

Bi-Weekly virtual meetings with the EcoPeace staff (April-August 2023 )
Monthly written report on the progress of the project (April-August 2023)
Ensure participants are engaged and active to meet the program expectations.
Availability to join the 3 regional workshops virtually ( 25 May – 1 June 2023)
Final written report on the mentorship of the three projects and the mentoring progress/process

Skills & Qualifications:

An academic degree in a relevant field such as environmental studies, project management, education, social sciences
At least 3 years of proven experience in implementing trainings, mentoring and/or coaching programs.
Organized, ability to work under pressure and has a positive attitude to challenges.
Excellent writing and communication skills and along with high level skills in developing learning coach and mentoring.
Team-working skills.
Knowledge in dialogue facilitation.

The mentor must be expressed the requested documents in the English and confirm the validity of the offer for a minimum period of 90 days.
Highlight the relevant academic qualifications, specialized trainings and pertinent work experience and submit the related certificates for any coaching, mentoring, etc….
The financial offer should be in ILS and includes the 10% Income Tax for the individuals.
EcoPeace will cover the cost for the regional Travel and accommodation costs once needed so the financial offer should exclude the border crossing costs, all the other national travel and out of pocket costs should be covered by the mentor financial offer.
