Coaching on Technical & Web content Writing

 

Background

QADER for Community Development is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting better well-being of persons with disabilities (PwD) in Palestine. QADER endeavors to positively influence public policies, develop capacities of relevant stakeholders, and promote public awareness and disseminate information pertinent to PwD rights and issues; all according to the priorities of PwD and on the basis of national and international human rights, and the principles of equality and social justice.

QADER was founded in 2008 by a group of Palestinian professionals with diversified expertise in health, disability, development, and human rights. Since its founding, QADER has assumed its functional responsibility thereinafter addressing the disability issue from a human rights perspective, and demonstrated a rights’ based approach in tackling the various issues of PwD.

About the project:

QADER for community development is part of the SIDA framework project implemented by Save the Children International in oPt - SCI and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency – SIDA.

The Project aims to improved capacity of states to respect and fulfil children’s rights to survival, learning and protection as part of their overall obligations to uphold children’s rights for the most marginalized children through enhancing child participation, inclusion, and increased budget allocation to children and child rights monitoring and reporting.

QADER is responsible for specific activities related to promoting children with disabilities’ rights governance.

Purpose of the Assignment

The aim of the assignment is to enhance the capacities of QADER’s staff in technical writing, and improve the quality of the content (articles, news, annual reports, success stories... etc.) that reflects QADER’s work on QADER website, social media and other platforms on the web.

Scope of Work

The consultant shall carry out the following tasks:

  1. Review QADER’s Arabic website content by editing the existing text and structure, drafting new content where necessary.
  2. Translate the Arabic website content to English
  3. Conduct coaching sessions to QADER staff on technical writing both in English and Arabic
  4. Review of QADER’s Annual reports and submit recommendations for 2019 report on layout and content.

Deliverables

  1. Arabic & English websites are ready to be launched.
  2. 3-days coaching sessions on technical writing for all platforms (website, social media, official reports, news… etc.)
  3. Recommendations’ report on improving QADER’s annual reports.

Timeframe

3 Weeks.

 

Qualifications & Competencies

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience or similar work.
  • Demonstrated experience with in developing communication materials (on-line, Media/press releases, publications and reports).
  • Experience in editing and proof reading, organizational communication material.
  • Strong profile in designing and delivering coaching and trainings in technical writing.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English & Arabic.
