Oxfam supported the Facilitation and establishment of the Musa Afandi Interpretation Center which is managed by Jerusalem Tourism Cluster, to promote the “Palestinian Touristic Experience” in Alquds, this was under the project entitled “Developing Equitable Agricultural Production and Market Systems for Resilient Economic Development in the occupied Palestinian Territory”  funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and in partnership with Bethlehem University/the Institute for Community Partnership and Jerusalem Tourism Cluster. The Interpretation center is established recently in 2018 as an interactive information center that is designed and curated to provide information on selected competencies linked to the indigenous community of Alquds. It will encompass a number of carefully selected interactive exhibits that will collectively tell the story of the city and its main identities and competencies. The interpretation center is not a museum. On the other hand, it is not merely an information center. It is an attempt to engage visitors in and through the different depths, layers and historic, religious and cultural diversity that make the city of Alquds unique.

Musa Afandi Interpretation Center (MAIC) is an exciting new force in achieving greater understanding of what the boundlessly profound and immensely complex city of Alquds actually is, both throughout history and today. The center recognizes that Alquds’s depth and color cannot be accurately depicted by words and facts alone but must be experienced with our senses, hence its emphasis on personal interpretation. Here, right in the heart of Alquds’s vibrant Old City, visitors are encouraged to see, touch, and even taste their way to a connection with Alquds’s diverse communities, its complex history, its forgotten sites.
