A CONSULTANT: DIGITAL CONTENT CREATOR/SOCIAL MEDIA CONSULTANT

Context

Oxfam OPTI seeks a passionate and experienced Digital Content Creator/Social Media Consultant to join our influencing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cyberactivism, content creation, and social media influencing, focusing on producing engaging content for all Oxfam OPTI social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter). This position will be based in the Gaza Strip and requires mobility and access to a smartphone and computer.

Key Responsibilities

Create engaging piece-to-camera interviews, vox pops and other style videos that address relevant social and political issues in the Gaza Strip. Produce targeted digital content to broaden the reach and impact of Oxfam’s national and international engagement. Ability to work independently on the ground and coordinate with Oxfam colleagues (local and international level) and partner organizations in the Gaza Strip to gather stories, photos and video for media work, digital communications and fundraising, in line with Oxfam’s content-gathering guidelines.
Develop and implement social media strategies to effectively reach and engage target audiences, especially on Instagram. Produce and develop high-quality written and multimedia materials and content aligned to Oxfam’s core mandate and abiding by agreed-upon Oxfam messaging and sign-off protocol.
Film, edit, and produce high-quality multimedia content using smartphones and computer software. Curate visually appealing photographs and write compelling captions tailored to the social media audience.
Seek opportunities to amplify local partner and community organizations’ social media work to amplify messaging and maximize impact. Where necessary, engage with other social media managers to raise global awareness of the situation for people in the OPT, including developing new content and feature stories.
Ensure the protection of Oxfam’s brand and adherence to procedures, protocols, and policies, including guidelines for interviewing vulnerable people and documenting permission for the use of digital images.
Build the capacity of Oxfam staff and partner organisations to produce high-quality media and communications products. Provide training and support to local partners and stakeholders on digital media best practices.
Monitor trends and analyze performance metrics to optimize content strategy and drive engagement. Oversee the management of monitoring the impact of OPT country office comms and ensuring that complaints, ‘backlash’, and /or any other comments relating to Oxfam OPT comms work are logged and responded to as appropriate.
You will be working as an external consultant but a full-fledged member of the Media and Communications team in the Oxfam country office. Most of the work will be done remotely, but possibility to work from Oxfam office when necessary.

In addition:

A minimum of two years of experience in social media and communication in the peace, development, and human rights sector, preferably with NGOs or community-based organizations, or possible experience working as a journalist (editorial skills, ability to identify compelling stories, and experience in interviewing people).
Understand the political and social reality of the work of an INGO like Oxfam in the Gaza Strip and OPTI.
Demonstrate experience in filming, editing, and producing video content using smartphones and computer software.
Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to articulate ideas effectively.
Demonstrated ability to engage and connect with diverse audiences through social media.
Creative thinker with a keen eye for visual storytelling and content curation.
Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for social justice and positive change.
Powerful interpersonal and negotiating skills and enjoys building and maintaining a wide range of relationships.
Strong organizational and planning skills with an understanding of how to plan, adjust and implement a strategy and capable of working independently and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
High verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing a clear, direct, easy-to-read written style and a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work effectively and calmly in a high-pressure environment and prioritize and manage assignments promptly.
Ability to work well in a collaborative team as well as remotely with global teams across different time zones and with cultural differences.
Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
