BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Civil Peace Service (Ziviler Friedensdienst) is a global programme aiming to the prevention of violence and promoting peace in crisis zones and conflict regions through the engagement with civil society actors. It aims to build a world in which conflicts are resolved without resorting to violence. DrumPower is a psycho-social support tool, focusing on resilience strengthening, stress relief, pedagogy and alternative strategies in dealing with impulses, aggression, and conflict. Using drums and other percussion instruments as a musical intervention that mainly focuses on rhythm and groove, the project is highly inclusive to all levels of musical skills.

The GIZ CPS program engages an experienced musician with solid educational experience, pedagogical knowledge and drumming skills to conceptualize and implement music-therapy and theatre pedagogy-based psychosocial support sessions using the DrumPower methodology.
