Expression of Interest
Mercy Corps is powered by the belief that a better world is possible. To do this, we know our teams do their best work when they are diverse, and every team member feels that they belong. We welcome diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skills so that we can be stronger and have a long-term impact.
Mercy Corps Palestine is dedicated to ensuring that GESI principles are mainstreamed across all our projects and interventions, thereby contributing to more equitable and inclusive outcomes. Gaza Sky Geeks, founded in 2011 by Mercy Corps with support from Google, is Palestine’s foremost tech hub, dedicated to training, nurturing, and supporting emerging tech talent. Its mission is to create a sustainable and inclusive digital job market within Palestine, empowering the resilient youth to reach their full potential and earn globally competitive incomes through high-value digital work.
Gaza Sky Geeks (GSG) is deeply committed to promoting gender inclusivity and equality across the program. In 2021, Mercy Corps Palestine (MCP) and GSG conducted a Participatory Gender and Inclusion Audit (PGIA) to assess and enhance Gender Equality, Diversity, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) within the GSG program. GSG is planning to conduct a second Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) analysis to inform the design and implementation of its program and to introduce tailored recommendations for how the project can effectively promote gender equality and social inclusion in the West Bank, ensuring alignment with local needs and priorities.
SCOPE OF THE GESI ANALYSIS
Purpose
The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) analysis of the project will comprehensively address gender equality and social inclusion in the ICT and Tech ecosystem as the key thematic areas. The GESI Analysis will aim to:
1) identify and analyze opportunities, barriers, and challenges for women, youth, and vulnerable populations engagement and participation in the ICT and tech sector in the West Bank,
2) understand the gender and social dynamics in the crisis and post-crisis contexts,
3) assess the impact of existing GSG initiatives on advancing gender equality and social inclusion,
4) generate actionable recommendations and guidance to enhance gender equality and social inclusion in future GSG programming.
The consultant is expected to use the findings to inform the development of a GESI action plan for the GSG program to ensure effective, gender-transformative, and inclusive project design and implementation.
