Background:
 
MedGlobal, an international non-profit, non-governmental organization with headquarters in the U.S. at 10604 Southwest Highway, Suite 107, Chicago Ridge, IL 60415, USA.
Description of the project: 
 
The project is co-funded by UMR and MedGlobal to target 150 older persons in Gaza. The project aims to improve the independence and self-care levels for older people in addition to raise-awareness of elderly people and caregivers on several health topics and advocating to support the access to high quality care services to older people through outreach services. The project will deliver outreach Healthcare and Awareness-raising Services for 150 vulnerable older people and Provision of Medication, lab items, assistive Devices and others. 

Main Activities: 

  • Beneficiary Selection and needs identification.
  • Outreach Healthcare and Awareness-raising Services including 2 radio spots
  • Provision of Medication, lab items, and Assistive Devices
  • Mental health through recreational activities
Objectives of Study:
The purpose of this study/baseline is to assess the current situation of the elderly people in the Gaza Strip with major highlighting on the health situation. The objectives are as following: 
  • Context analysis 
  • Identifying the significant health and medical needs of the elderly.
  • Living Situations of Older Persons with Disabilities including: living in poverty, family as primary caregivers, issues of older PwDs living alone, unmet care needs and older persons with pre-existing Disabilities. 
  • Identifying older people's present well-being, and coping mechanism.
  • To identify the current-functioning healthcare services, as well as limitations or gaps in access to and quality of services.
  •  Identifying essential requirements of healthcare providers and frontline workers.
  • Identifying the gender-specific requirements of elderly and caregivers, as well as the necessary health and non-health assistance. 
  • Barriers to access: Ease of access, affordability and quality.
  • To share immediate, medium and long-term recommendations and requirements for the future response.
Interviews with key informants and focus group talks with Gaza residents in addition to questionnaire are part of the assessment. To ensure that representative information is collected, it will be a collaborative and participatory approach with and stakeholders. The methodological approach will be in line with global best practices, including the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Guidelines

Goals & Deliverables Outcome:  
  • Inception report 
  • Final report: Executive Summary, Introduction, Working Methodology, Findings and conclusion, recommendations and Baseline inputs

Qualifications & Skills:
  • University degree Master  in Health  management, administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) year’s work experience in development programs financial matters is required & work with  consultant for baseline study before or  Consulting company   
  • Substantive professional experience in the same context through working with disability programs for the Elderly people. 
  • Fluent in English speaking, writing and reading in an excellent manner
  • Experience in conducting a study for the elderly, analytically, technically and financially.
  • Have Excellent organizational & time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills required.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with NGOs &  the community organizations sector in Gaza, especially those that provide health care support and health education services to elderly people with disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a professional and consultative manner.-
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines, and exercise good professional judgment which reflects positively on Med Global &MUR  image.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs, the Internet, and statistical analysis.
