Feasibility Study of Social Enterprise Models
MA’AN Development Centre is an independent Palestinian development and training institution established in January, 1989, registered by law as a non-profit organization. The main office is in Ramallah and the other branch offices are located in Gaza, and Jenin. MA’AN's work is informed by the necessity of creating independent, self-reliant initiatives that lead to the development of human resources for sustainable development, which incorporate values of self-sufficiency and self-empowerment.
MA’AN currently is implementing a project entitled “Promoting Sustainable Jobs for Youth through Self-Employment”. The project is implemented in partnership with the Belgian Development Agency and funded by the European Union, and aims at enhancing youth capacities and opportunities to access inclusive and sustainable self-employment opportunities. In addition, it supports equipping vulnerable young females and males with resilience skills by applying inclusive, gender-sensitive, and environmentally friendly strategies. and aims at enhancing youth capacities and opportunities to access inclusive and sustainable self-employment opportunities. MA’AN is seeking the services of a professional and highly qualified consultancy firm to conduct a feasibility study for the proposed three models of collective actions addressing the legal, technical, and economic feasibility of each proposed model. In specific, the consultant is required to assess each one of the proposed collective livelihood models addressing the following:
- Validate the interest of the different related parties (small scale-farmers/ producers & MA’AN social enterprises or the party operating it)
- Suggest scenarios of business relationships that can achieve these interests for both parties
- Conclude the most feasible business scenario addressing the technical, legal, and market parameters. The concluded business scenario shall address the specific needs/demands of each party, align with potential growth, leverage the strengths and competitive advantage of MA’AN social enterprises, and enhance the resiliency and sustainability of the targeted livelihood groups.
- Based on the concluded scenario, the consultant shall develop a comprehensive business plan for each one of the proposed collective livelihoods. The business plan shall consider the following:
- Analysis of the market: this includes potential customers, market trends, competitors, and competition advantage.
- Sales and marketing: this include identifying the customers, costing, marketing strategy, and distribution channels.
- Business Model and description of operations and services
- Executive Plan: this includes staff plan, technical needs, time frame,
- Financial plan: this includes financial/funding needs till break-even status and projection of business returns.
- Advise about adequate legal regulations to arrange for accountable and sustainable collective action.
